Shadowlands Yoga & Barre

Found these costume pics from 2017. I don’t actually think it was even Halloween, I was just indulging in my obsession with 80s films and Flashdance and Jennifer Beals. This reminded me about one my favourite actresses and dancers, Cynthia Rhodes. She plays Tina Tech in Flashdance (remember the Manhunt song?), Penny in Dirty Dancing and Jackie in Staying Alive. She is an absolutely incredible dancer and singer. Do yourself a favour and watch her Manhunt performance in Flashdance again. It’s a jaw dropper!

Minding the Gap.
This is an important concept in recovery that I like to discuss in classes and workshops. The character of Geraldine played by Sarah Silverman articulates this perfectly in the film Take This Waltz. It’s one of my favourite scenes of the portrayal of an addict in recovery. She nails it big time.
There is still space in my workshop this Saturday from 11:30 to 2:30, where we look at Addiction recovery, tools and strategies, examine the linkages between yoga and addiction recovery, discuss experiences, maybe talk about films and music that helps those struggling, and move through a yoga practice. Remember, this is for anyone struggling, those with a friend or family member struggling, other yoga teachers interested in this topic. Please reach out to me with any questions.

This is a great description of addiction and how sneaky it can be. If this resonates, or if you’ve watched someone go down that rabbit hole, the workshop I am holding may help you understand and examine addiction in a deeper way. The workshop will explore how Yoga and Addiction Recovery are related and interconnected.
