When Sarah was just 12 years old, her father experienced a medical emergency in their driveway. As paramedics arrived, she watched a female paramedic take charge of the scene. That moment stayed with her and inspired her to pursue a career in paramedicine.
More than 23 years later, Sarah has built a career dedicated to caring for others and helping shape the next generation of paramedics.
From working on the road as a paramedic to advancing into Advanced Care Paramedicine, and now serving as a Program Coordinator and educator, Sarah has experienced paramedicine from many perspectives.
Today, one of her favourite parts of teaching is watching students grow from the beginning of the program to the moment they realize:
“I can actually do this.”
For Sarah, teaching goes beyond skills, medications and protocols. It’s about helping students develop the confidence, clinical judgment, communication and compassion they need to care for patients during some of their most difficult moments.
And there’s a creative side to Sarah, too! 🎂 Outside of paramedicine and teaching, she loves cake decorating and design — a creative outlet where she can slow down and turn an idea into something beautiful.
