Today is Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. 🧡

It is a time to remember the children who never returned home and to honour Survivors, their families, and communities.

At Centre for Skills Development, we stand in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples today and every day, recognizing our shared responsibility to continue the essential, ongoing work of truth-telling, learning, and meaningful reconciliation.

Our Get in Gear students had an incredible opportunity to spend the day with the Burlington Fire Department, getting a behind-the-scenes look at the many different roles and careers that help keep our community safe. From fire prevention and public education to training, suppression, communications, and mechanical operations, the group had the chance to learn, ask questions, and participate in some amazing hands-on activities.

A huge thank you to the Burlington Fire Department and everyone who took the time to welcome our GIG students, share their knowledge, and create such a memorable day!
