E-Bots Robotics

Absolutely — I’d weave it in as the “fun warm-up” before the bigger problem-solving work:

Tech Arts 2.0 is officially underway, and we started the morning with something fun: custom 3D printed name plates.

Because obviously, if you can make your name look this cool, you should.

But this week is about more than making fun things. We’re looking at how students can take the skills they’ve learned and actually apply them in real-world spaces, like local library makerspaces with 3D printers, laser cutters, Cricuts, and other tools they can access outside of class.

Our big challenge this week is simple:

Find a problem or annoyance in your life, then design a solution for it.

Students will be learning how to move from idea, to design, to export, to prototype, to testing, to “okay, that didn’t work exactly how I thought it would” and then trying again.

Because that’s the actual skill.

Not just making the thing, but learning how to improve the thing.

We’re spending the day down at Spencer Smith Park celebrating with our amazing robotics teams at the Burlington Waterfront festivities!

STEM Robotics Community HappyCanadaDay

9am after a night of fun… and these kids were exhausted (not miserable lol). 😴

For some of them, this week even included graduating elementary school, so they’ve been doubly blessed with memories, celebrations, and fun.

What an amazing week it has been. This team started together in the second week of school and now, in the second-last week of school, they are wrapping up a full year of hard work, perseverance, problem-solving, teamwork, and growth.

Now we wait for the results — but no matter what happens, we are already so incredibly proud of everything they have accomplished.

Well done, team. 💙

A massive thank you to all of the volunteers and judges who make these events possible, and especially to Annika Pint and FIRST LEGO League Canada for all of the work behind and in front of the scenes this week!!!

Day 3 at Canada Cup! 💙🤖🇨🇦

After another huge day of competition, our team is currently sitting in 9th place overall — and we are the highest placed North American team!

This is something we are incredibly proud of. In North America, students can only compete in FIRST LEGO League until Grade 8, while internationally the age restrictions are different, with some teams competing with students as old as 18. To see our kids holding their own at this level is absolutely amazing.

We are so proud of these results, but even more proud of the students behind them — their teamwork, resilience, problem-solving, and the way they have represented E-Bots and Burlington on an international stage.

Closing ceremonies are tomorrow, so tonight it was important to blow off a little steam: Marco Polo, laser tag, and a trip to the Falls!

This experience has already been unforgettable — from sharing our team’s work, to cheering on incredible robot runs, to meeting amazing teams from around the world.

We are grateful for the opportunity to represent our community on an international stage and to show what our students have worked so hard to build, design, problem-solve, and present.

We have had so much fun connecting with teams, cheering each other on, and meeting so many wonderful kids from around the world. The energy, kindness, creativity, and excitement in the pits has been amazing to be part of.

Yesterday our team got right to work turning an empty space into Climate Boxers headquarters — uniforms on, balloons inflated, project board up, and everything ready to welcome visitors.

A huge thank you to the City of Burlington for supplying us with some great goodies for everyone swinging by our booth. We are so excited to share our project, our robot, and all the hard work these students have put into this season.

Team 5875 Climate Boxers is excited to be competing at Brock University alongside some of the best robotics teams around. We’ve been working hard all season, and we can’t wait to put our robot to the test, learn from other teams, and make some amazing memories.
