Mary was a little pig who came to kindy one day...
🐷 There were certainly plenty of squeals of excitement when one of our kindy friends brought his three-week-old piglet, Mary, to kindy for a special visit!
The children were delighted to meet Mary, taking turns to gently feed her warm milk from a bottle and watching her happily trot around to meet all her new kindy friends. There were lots of giggles as she explored her surroundings and curious conversations about what piglets eat, how they grow and how we can care for animals with kindness and respect 🐖🥰.
Mary wasn’t the only special visitor for the day! She was joined by Bambi, an adorable baby goat 🐐☺️✨Experiences like these provide meaningful opportunities for children to build empathy, develop confidence around animals and deepen their understanding of the natural world through real-life, hands-on learning ✨
A huge thank you to our wonderful kindy friend for sharing Mary and Bambi with us. It was a morning full of smiles, laughter and unforgettable memories that our kindy children will be talking about for a long time to come! ❤️

🍃 As we creep closer to the end of Term 2 we are able to reflect on the ways our students have grown and developed over the last 6 months. Particularly when it comes to social skills and budding friendships! Here at Gan Gani we encourage the building of strong, respectful and inclusive relationships through modelling, establishing shared interests and creating an environment that is welcoming to all. ✨
Some relationships formed at Gan Gani may even turn into lifelong friendships - and we think that’s pretty special 💕

🌿💫 Learning out in the wild, just the way it’s meant to be 🌿💫

Out here, the ground isn’t flat and the equipment isn’t perfect, and that’s exactly the point.

Children climb, balance, lift, build, and move through natural spaces that invite real exploration, real thinking, and real confidence.

At Gan Gani, we see children step into challenge in their own way, testing their limits, working together, problem-solving as they go, and coming back to try again. Little hands lifting logs, feet finding balance on uneven ground, voices sharing ideas across the space 🌿

Our educators stay close, guiding with care and experience, making sure each child feels safe while still having the freedom to take supported risks and explore deeply 💛

As a not-for-profit community kindy, we really value these unstructured, outdoor moments where learning isn’t delivered — it’s lived ✨

Last weekend we held our Community Fun day with great success! 🌈 ☀️ 🍃 Children and their families were nothing but smiles as they sang and danced, had their face painted, enjoyed some craft or chose a tasty treat from our home made bake sale ❤️

⭐️ Our beautiful fundraising team also organised a raffle with the most amazing prizes. A huge shout out to the following members/businesses in the community who generously donated - we couldn’t have done it without you!

🍁🍂Soft autumn days at kindy… where little garden keepers, fairies, and pixies quietly get to work 🍁🍂

With warm sunshine, a bit of rain, and cooler Brisbane mornings, our garden has been lovingly refreshed and prepared for the season ahead 🌦

A heartfelt thank you to one of our wonderful kindy mums and garden keeper, who came in to help refresh the garden beds and get the space ready for new growth, such a lovely act of care and community ☺️🙏

Our children are stepping into this gentle magic each day: exploring, imagining, digging, planting, and connecting with nature in their own way ✨🍃

At Gan Gani, it’s these small, shared moments of community, care, and imagination that help children and gardens truly flourish 💛

💐💗 A little late, but too special not to share… we were busy mothering ourselves 💗💐

To all our beautiful Kindy and community mums, thank you for the love you give so naturally every day. The care, the patience, the cuddles, the packed bags, the sleepless nights, the planning, the morning routines, and all the little unseen moments that quietly hold everything together 🌿✨

In the children’s eyes, you are their safe place, their rock, their everything. The children’s drawings inside each heart are all so different, each one beautifully unique, just like the child who drew it and the special mum they represent 💗

And to our incredible educators, thank you for being an extension of that love each day: holding, guiding, teaching, comforting, and gently walking alongside our children as they grow 🌿✨

We hope everyone felt deeply appreciated this Mother’s Day 💗

Some things are worth pausing for, even if the sharing comes a little later 😊

✨🐴 Our kindergarten children had a lovely visit to the horses next door at Fig Tree Pocket Equestrian Club ✨🐴

We spent time talking about how to keep both ourselves and the horses safe, moving calmly, giving them space, and watching quietly. The children were so engaged and thoughtful throughout the visit 💛

We also explored the different ways horses move: walking, trotting, cantering, and galloping 🐎✨ The children loved noticing the differences in speed and energy as they watched them up close. A real highlight was watching Bolton, who did lots of jumps while we were there 👏 The children were absolutely thrilled and cheered him on with big smiles all round.

Such a special morning in our local community, giving the children the chance to connect with animals, nature, and the world right on our doorstep 🌿✨

We welcomed our beautiful kindy students back for Term 2 this week with some little visitors from the Henny Penny hatching program. The children have been fascinated to witness firsthand the lifecycle of the chicken as these little cuties have hatched their way out of the eggs and then started to move around and find their bearings in the big bright world. Gentle hands were encouraged as children were given the chance to hold these tiny chicks. The children have been so excited every morning to check if more chicks have hatched overnight and to sit and watch them as they move around their little pen. Seeing the world through the eyes of a child truly is a magical thing ✨ 🐣

It's hard to believe that we are already at the end of Term 1! This term at Gan Gani has been all about settling in, building connections and forming new friendships. And lets not forget all the fun that has been had along the way! How lucky the children are to have such a kind and caring team of educators to assist them as they have settled into their kindy routine this term. They are definitely due for a well earned break.
