📘 PHYSICS QUICK REVISION — KEY FORMULAS WORTH KNOWING
Physics becomes much easier when you understand what a formula means, when to use it, and how the quantities are connected — rather than simply memorising equations.
This quick revision guide brings together several important concepts students regularly encounter in Physics:
🚗 Mechanics
Motion equations help describe displacement, velocity and acceleration. Remember that the familiar SUVAT equations shown here apply when acceleration is constant.
⚡ Work, Energy & Power
These equations connect force and displacement with work, mass and height with gravitational potential energy, motion with kinetic energy, and work with power. Efficiency also helps us compare useful energy output with total energy input.
💪 Forces
Newton’s Second Law connects net force, mass and acceleration. When several forces act on an object, direction matters — forces must be treated as vectors when determining the resultant force.
🌊 Pressure
Pressure can be understood through force acting over an area, while fluid pressure increases with density, gravitational field strength and depth.
🔋 Electricity
Voltage, current, resistance, electrical power and energy are closely connected. It is also important to remember that series and parallel circuits use different rules when calculating total resistance.
🌡️ Heat
The equations (Q=mcΔT) and (Q=mL) describe two different situations: changing temperature and changing state.
〰️ Waves
The relationship (v=fλ) connects wave speed, frequency and wavelength — one of the fundamental relationships in wave physics.
🔦 Light
Reflection follows the rule that the angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection. Refraction can be analysed using Snell’s Law, which describes how light changes direction when travelling between different media.
🧊 Density
Density links an object's mass to the volume it occupies through (ρ=m/V).
