QCAR Central: ๐Ÿ“ฃMackay Sugar has issued a notice to growers this afternoon providing an update on the serious cyber incident on June 10 that resulted in the shutdown of two of its three mills. In summary, based on Mackay Sugarโ€™s current recovery progress outlook:
๐ŸšœFarleigh Mill - subject to final validation of cane supply systems, harvesting is anticipated to restart later this week and crushing operations expected to follow soon after.
๐ŸšœMarian Mill โ€“ subject to validation of weighbridge and operational systems, harvesting is expected to start later this week and crushing soon after.
๐ŸšœRacecourse Mill โ€“ Recovery activities are continuing across critical cane supply, laboratory and operational systems with restart planning estimated to be early next week.
โ—Mackay Sugar is requesting all growers and harvesting contractors to NOT recommence harvesting operations until formal advice is issued by Mackay Sugar.

Can organics do a good job of improving cane yields? - Sugar Research Australia 16/06/2026

As seen in Cane Matters Monthly today! Two field trials have begun in the Burdekin to assess whether organic amendments can improve sugarcane yields. Griffith Universityโ€™s Dr Mehran Rezaei Rashti is leading the project, which is testing whether organic amendments can improve subsoil conditions and therefore increase the productive capacity of the soil. The project is fully funded by the Department of Primary Industries and managed by Sugar Research Australia. SRA Burdekin District Manager Terry Granshaw and Burdekin Productivity Services (BPS) Manager Rob Milla are close collaborators on this project. Read the full story here:
