Most crisis training ticks a box, never to be visited again. STAND was built to change what happens in the room and embed into organisational prcatice. DM me to find out more.
We design courses, games, and toolkits that make learning real, engaging, and effective.
INWOOD Training & Design delivers practical, trauma-informed training and resources that build resilience, confidence, and wellbeing in workplaces and communities.

When a frontline worker doesn't know what to do in a crisis, the organisation pays for it.
In incidents that escalate when they didn't have to. In complaints and investigations. In workers who burn out and leave. In liability exposure that could have been avoided.
Most organisations have done Mental Health First Aid. MHFA is genuinely valuable — it builds awareness and teaches people to recognise distress.
But it stops at referral.
And most frontline workers cannot refer on. They are the response.
STAND fills that gap — giving your team a clear, trauma-informed framework for the moment a situation gets serious.
Not after. During!
Are your frontline staff equipped for what actually happens in the room?

Two steps forward, three steps back isn't failure. It's exactly what recovery looks like for most people.

I built STAND because the training I kept doing wasn't cutting it.
17 years on the frontline, managing staff, holding caseloads, sitting across from people in crisis.
Every course said the same thing — recognise it, manage it, refer on. Manage it how, exactly? Nobody ever answered that in detail.
Most of the time, WE are the someone else. We're the ones already in the room.
So I built something for us.

Culture doesn't protect your team in a crisis. Skill does.

It's here!
After many months of development, writing, reviewing and mapping — Foundations of Safe Practice in Mental Health & Crisis Work is complete and ready to launch.
This is a four-week online professional development course for non-clinical frontline workers in the community services sector. Two hours a week, on weekday evenings. No leave required.
Four sessions. Four workbooks. Practical skills across:
— Legal, ethical and safe practice
— Active listening and communication
— Trauma-informed practice
— Su***de prevention and crisis response
Every workbook has been mapped to five nationally recognised VET units — so if a participant ever wants to formalise their learning into a qualification, their completed workbooks generate evidence they can use toward an RPL application.
CPD that actually goes somewhere!
First cohort starts Tuesday 7 July 2026.
$495 per person. Group bookings available, get in touch to discuss rates for your team.
If you're a team leader or manager looking for meaningful PD your staff can do outside of work hours — drop me a message.

Is your team actually equipped to handle a mental health crisis..... or just trained to recognise one?
There's a significant difference. And most frontline workers are only getting half of what they need.
At INWOOD Training and Design we do things differently. Practical, engaging, no bu****it mental health training that gives staff the actual skills and tools to manage crisis and lower risk.
STAND Foundations — one full day of practical crisis response training your staff use the next morning.
STAND Advanced — two days of deep skill building for complex situations under pressure.
Foundations of Safe Practice in Mental Health and Crisis — a four week online course your people complete outside work hours.
If that's what your organisation needs — DM me.

No shade to policy writers but… yeah. 👇

You drove home replaying it. Again.
The person in front of you was escalating and your heart rate was up. You said the right things — and it still didn't land.
That feeling doesn't go away on its own.
Most people in frontline work were trained in what to do. Nobody trained us in how to stay grounded while we're doing it.
I built STAND Training because I was that person driving home replaying it.
STAND Foundations is open for 2026 — team bookings available.
One day, hands on training. Built for the real stuff.
If that drive home sounds familiar, this is for you.
