A day of crocodile discoveries at Queensland Museum Kurilpa! 🐊

Our Year 7 Science students travelled into South Bank today to explore the museum’s huge crocodile exhibition, coming face-to-face with prehistoric giants, fossils, life-sized displays, First Nations connections, and the work of crocodile researchers and conservationists.

A great day of learning beyond the classroom for Year 7!

3,000 km. 62 students. 6 landings. 4-person crews. 3 Houses. One epic night!

Our Aerospace students battled it out from Friday night into Saturday morning, flying simulator Cessna 172s and putting their flight planning, navigation, teamwork, fuel, and engine management skills to the test.

There were crashes, hypoxia, changing flight plans, and plenty of pressure — but some seriously impressive flying!

After a night of incredible engine management, fuel conservation, on-time ETAs, and A-standard landings... HINKLER HOUSE ARE THE 2026 AIR RACE CHAMPIONS!

A huge congratulations to all students who took on the challenge! Thank you to the teachers who gave up their Friday night and Saturday morning to supervise.

This is Aerospace at Aviation High — learning by doing!

Congratulations to Year 12 students Tate and Thomas, Aviation High School’s 2026 Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Foundation (QATSIF) graduates.

Tate represented our school at Tuesday’s QATSIF Graduation Ceremony at QUT (Queensland University of Technology) Gardens Point, joining a statewide cohort of more than 2,300 QATSIF graduates.

He was also selected as one of the ceremony’s student MCs and did an outstanding job helping to lead the program with confidence. We are incredibly proud of the way he represented himself, his family, and Aviation High School.

We thank QATSIF and Queensland Public Trustee for their continued support of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and for the opportunities they help make possible throughout Years 11 and 12.

Following the ceremony, Tate also had the opportunity to meet Madonna Jarrett MP, Federal Member for Brisbane. Thank you, Ms Jarrett, for taking the time to recognise and celebrate this important achievement with him.

Congratulations again to Tate and Thomas on this significant milestone.

Today we waved goodbye to Milana as she jets over to Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama thanks to her receiving a Northrup Grumman Foundation scholarship!

United Airlines gave the students a VIP boarding experience by visiting the flight deck and meeting the crew. The captain even gave them a shoutout in his address to the cabin.

The Northrop Grumman Foundation is funding Australian students and teachers to attend Space Camp in the US, and our school was successful in obtaining funding for this once in a lifetime learning experience. During this unique 6-day overnight camp at the US Space and Rocket Center Milana will train like astronauts with other students from across the globe. The teams will be putting their engineering and STEM skills to the test with a range of activities, including constructing and testing a heat shield during a thermal design challenge.

We can't wait to hear all about her experiences in Space Camp.

It was a difficult job to choose from the 28 Aviation High students who applied for the scholarship. The future of aerospace is looking bright in Australia from the calibre of passion and interest in space from our students.
