💛 Intergenerational Connections at Chapel Hill 💛

Every fortnight, our children enjoy visiting the residents at Cairns Aged Care Centre, a much-loved excursion that has become a special part of our curriculum. 🌟

During this week's visit, the children shared lots of laughter and fun as they played balloon games with the residents. These meaningful experiences help children build confidence, develop empathy and kindness, and foster a strong sense of community and belonging.

We love seeing the wonderful connections formed across generations and the joy these visits bring to both the children and residents. 💛

At our centre, we believe the environment is more than just a beautiful space. It is the third teacher; thoughtfully designed to inspire exploration, provoke thinking, and respond to children's questions, enquiries, and curiosities.

Today, our outdoor environment invited children to explore colour, texture, movement, and creativity through a simple yet meaningful painting experience. Using their fingers as tools, children experimented with making marks, patterns, and shapes, developing their fine motor skills while expressing their ideas and theories through art.

By carefully curating environments that reflect children's interests and wonderings, we create opportunities for authentic learning, discovery, and creativity. Every material, every space, and every experience has a purpose: to encourage children to think, investigate, and make sense of the world around them.

🌊🐟 Exploring Land and Water Habitats Through Play! 🦀🐄

Today, our curious learners engaged in a hands-on sensory experience as they explored the fascinating world of land and water habitats. Using natural materials, rocks, sand, and animal figurines, the children created their own miniature environments and discussed where different animals live.

Through imaginative play, they developed their understanding of habitat diversity, animal characteristics, and the connections between living things and their environments. This activity also encouraged creativity, problem-solving, language development, and fine motor skills.

Our children gathered pieces of bark and leaves, then arranged them on cardboard to create a textured artwork together. Little hands explored how the materials felt, made choices about where to place them and watched their ideas take shape.
