Julie Kamara and Zara Peasland are UK-based swim educators, tutors and hydrotherapists, and the team amazing duo behind Aqua Education.
Julie is an international swim tutor, teacher and early-years education specialist, while Zara is a senior tutor, aqua therapist and early-years education specialist. Together, they help aquatic professionals look beyond the mechanics of swimming to better understand the whole child.
Their work explores how neonatal reflexes, early movement, sensory needs and experiences before and after birth can influence a child’s behaviour, emotions, learning and responses in the water. They are particularly passionate about child-led, trauma-free aquatic practice and supporting educators to recognise each learner’s communication, readiness and individual needs.
Through professional training, consultancy, online courses and practical resources, Julie and Zara turn complex developmental knowledge into strategies educators can genuinely use in their lessons. Their work empowers teachers to observe more carefully, respond with greater confidence and create inclusive aquatic experiences where every learner has the opportunity to feel safe, connected and capable.
