This article on how to be a genuine ally to First Nations people is from a few years back, but with Jan 26 approaching, I think it's a good time to share it and reflect on it.

How to be a Genuine Ally We know that this is a topic that is being explored and written about everywhere currently, however this is because being a genuine ally to First Nations people is hugely important now and always. It is amazing the volume of support and solidarity being expressed online at the moment, yet it is impo...

Wishing a 2026 full of peace, justice and love for all.
This past year has been a challenging one for many beings on this planet, from continued environmental destruction, wars, genocide, the rise of the far right and various expressions of hate. I think that the root of many of these issues comes down to othering of both human and more-than-human beings. We have forgotten that all beings are our kin - people of other races, faiths, etc, as well as the more-than-human world.
Sending love and care to all who have been affected by the impacts of this forgetting... First Nations people, Palestinians, Jews, Muslims, trans folks and all others who are affected by racism and hate… not to mention all the other life forms on this precious planet.
May we remember that we are bound together in this story of life. May we reach out across divides between faiths, races, and beliefs; between the human and more than human... and bring about the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible.
In the words of the incredible Joanna Macy, who passed away last year: “If the world is to be healed through human efforts, I am convinced it will be by ordinary people, people whose love for this life is even greater than their fear.”
📷Including some pics here of my first day of the year in the Southern Downs of Queensland – appreciating and feeling the magic of this world. Having the chance to be in beautiful places like these and to encounter magic helps support us through these challenging times. I hope that you can find your own ways for restoring yourselves when times in the world are tough and overwhelming.💚

RIP Dr Jane Goodall. What a legacy she leaves our world. 💚
I love this story here - if only many of our world leaders could understand this kind of experience and worldview.
“Lost in awe at the beauty around me, I must have slipped into a state of heightened awareness. It is hard – impossible really – to put into words the moment of truth that suddenly came upon me then. Even the mystics are unable to describe their brief flashes of spiritual ecstasy. It seemed to me, as I struggled afterward to recall the experience, the self was utterly absent: I and the chimpanzees, the earth and trees and air, seemed to merge, to become one with the spirit power of life itself. The air was filled with a feathered symphony, the evensong of birds. I heard new frequencies in their music and also in singing insects’ voices – notes so high and sweet I was amazed. Never had I been so intensely aware of the shape, the color of the individual leaves, the varied patterns of the veins that made each one unique. Scents were clear as well, easily identifiable: fermenting, overripe fruit; waterlogged earth; cold, wet bark; the damp odor of chimpanzee hair, and yes, my own too. And the aromatic scent of young, crushed leaves was almost overpowering.
That afternoon, it had been as though an unseen hand had drawn back a curtain and, for the briefest moment, I had seen through such a window. In a flash of “outsight” I had known timelessness and quiet ecstasy, sensed a truth of which mainstream science is merely a small fraction. And I knew that the revelation would be with me for the rest of my life, imperfectly remembered yet always within. A source of strength on which I could draw when life seemed harsh or cruel or desperate.”
~ Jane Goodall, RIP

The incredible Joanna Macy passed away aged 96 on Saturday, surrounded by loved ones in her home. Joanna has been a huge inspiration for us - her work to provide spaces to feel and express the emotions that we feel about what is happening in our world and to remember that we are connected to all of life has been profound. Through her 'Work that Reconnects' we realise our sadness / anger / confusion (or whatever other feelings we might be experiencing) is indeed a result of this deep and intertwined connection. The insights gained through this work are profound, liberating and empowering.
Thank you Joanna for all you have shared with our world. May your spirit fly high! You will be inspiring many more to come as your work ripples and flows onwards.
Dear friends,
With full hearts, we share that Joanna Macy, our beloved root teacher, mentor, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 19th, at 3:56PM Pacific Time.
Over these past weeks, Joanna continued to inspire us through her presence, clarity, and deep love for life. She chose to remain at home, where she was held in love, as she gently let go.
Joanna gave us a profound understanding of the gifts of grief and a vision for resilience. She offered the Spiral and the larger body of the Work That Reconnects not just as a framework, but as a way to move through the world with courage and tenderness. She reminded us, again and again, that the world is alive and we belong to it.
Though her body has left us, her work pulses in every one of us. In every moment of truth-speaking, in every gathering that dares to feel, in every act of sacred activism - we will keep her message alive.
May we carry forward her love of life. May we grieve with open eyes. May we continue the Great Turning she so faithfully named.
The Network is organizing an online gathering to celebrate her life, with the date to be announced soon.
With reverence,
The Work That Reconnects Network Weavers
