Wishing the Indian Diaspora in Australia a very Happy Indian Independence Day🇮🇳

As a first generation Australian Indian, there are so many emotions felt by all of us today but I find myself particularly reflecting on my own family’s contribution and service to community. I am particularly proud of my mother Mrs Archana Singh, the Hon Consul for India in Queensland and how she had led our community with immense grace and an unparalleled spirit of service. She has led our community to a point where QLD, of all Australian states and territories, will be Australia’s largest trade partner moving forwards.

Today is also an opportunity to celebrate our diversity as a community whilst standing united as one Indian Diaspora family.

At present, the India Australia bilateral relationship is gaining very strong momentum on its upward trajectory!

On December 29, 2022, the India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement ( ), which was signed on April 2, 2022, entered into force. Over the next five years, it is anticipated that the India-Australia ECTA, which aims to improve trade and investment opportunities between the two nations, will propel bilateral trade to US$50 billion Australia trade to cross US$45-50 billion from the existing US$31 billion.

When two nations with shared values and a shared vision walk along a common path to deal with many of the world's existential issues, the energy and vigour that it generates is bound to impact the two countries in all facets of society.

In what is a very exciting time for this bilateral relationship, I am excited to play my part and continue to contribute to its success in the coming years.

It was an amazing experience to be a part of SERO College Degustation program made by their students in the Sofitel Kitchen in Brisbane.
The students studied Cert IV in Commercial Cookery. The final assessment was to make a dish from their home country and these photos show some of their amazing creations. The food was superb!

Recent Updates – Important Changes to Migration Law and the New 491 Visa
We are very excited to share that the Gold Coast and Perth have been announced as regional areas under the most recent migration law changes. What does this mean for Applicants?

Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa will replace the current 489 and will commence on 16 November 2019. The Subclass 491 visa has been introduced to meet the skills shortages that are being experienced in regional and rural areas of Australia.

This visa category is being afforded priority processing to ensure regional areas are receiving the skills required to meet demands. The 491 visa is a points tested visa with the highest scoring Applicants being invited to apply for the visa following a successful nomination from a state, territory or eligible family member.
If you require a detailed analysis of your eligibility or points, please contact us on (07) 3211 4920 or alternatively via email at [email protected].
The revised Queensland Skilled Occupation List and Regional List contains an additional 650 occupations so this is also good news for Applicants. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/working-in-australia/skill-occupation-list

Last Friday our Director, Aishwarya Somal, was invited by The Consular Corps of Queensland to meet with the Hon. Di Farmer MP, Minister for Child Safety, Youth and Women and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence.

Aishwarya was honoured to attend as she works very closely with victims of Domestic and Family Violence, particularly in protecting victims interests under family law and assisting migrant women with relationships that are breaking down.
