Dr. Owen Drinkwater is a dentist and former Wall Street analyst on a mission to bridge the gap between clinical excellence and financial literacy. After earning double bachelor’s degrees in neuroscience and economics from the University of Pittsburgh, Owen spent three years in New York City’s finance sector-first as an intern at a $4 billion hedge fund, and later as an equity research analyst at RBC Capital Markets.

Moving to Australia in pursuit of his now-wife, he completed his dental degree at Griffith University in 2024, where he also served as his cohort’s commencement speaker.

Having navigated both worlds, Owen created Sound Margins for soon-to-be Australian dental graduates and early-career associate dentists who are confident in their clinical skills, but lack the financial literacy necessary to systematically build toward financial goals. Sound Margins aims to foster this literacy through relatable examples, simplifying everyday business and financial concepts into a clear, jargon-free blueprint that dentists can immediately apply to turn clinical hard work into personal financial freedom.
