28/06/2023

National Skills Is pleased to announce another important quaification has been added to our scope. It is MSM30216 - Certificate III in Surface Preparation and Coating Application. The qualifcation provides the trade-level competencies required to perform the wide range of surface preparation and protective coating application operations that occur across a range of heavy industry, ships and infrastructure.

The surfaces being prepared are typically metal (usually ferrous) and may be structural or have other mechanical requirements. The protective coatings may be liquid or solid. The applied coating may, or may not be the final coat and its purpose is protective, not decorative.

The good news is that you can gain this qualifcation using the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) if you have 3 or more years experience in the industry.

Improve your work prospects and be recognised as a qualified trades person. Call Drewe on 044 7722 998 (text a message if you cant get me) and we can confirm if this is the pathway for you.

It has been a while between posts. The training sector is continuing to grow and the demand for RPL is high.

What is RPL?

While many understand the acronym means Recognition of Prior Learning, many do not understand the process. Some associate RPL with being back in class or having to do a course or some sort of test.

Nothing could be further from the truth. RPL allows you to gain qualifications based on your life experience. It is mapping your life experience, skills and knowledge to the qualification you require. It is not a difficult process as you may have most of the material required on your computer in the form of photos and work you have engaged in.

As one who has been through the process and who understands how daunting it can be, rest assured, it is easier than you think.
If you have any questions about your situation, don’t hesitate to contact me for an appraisal with no strings attached.
