FIRST PRIMARY SCHOOL IN QUEENSLAND!

We were fortunate enough to be contacted by Lily from the Inspire STEM program in Queensland. The program delivers a professional scanning electron microscope (SEM) to schools around Queensland so that they can experience and play with cutting edge research equipment. The instrument was very easy to use and produced amazing images for our students to study. Many of our DPSS staff took part in training with Lily so they could make best use of the SEM for the week we had it here. Lily delivered pre-made samples for the children to get started with, but we also had lots of fun making up our own! The SEM is valued at around $100 000 so we were incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to use it. GO SCIENCE!

At today’s assembly our Year 6 leaders placed and empty chair on stage to remind us of the loss and sadness experienced by our First Nations Peoples. Each class then laid a tribute to acknowledge Sorry Day as part of Reconciliation Week.
