What keeps a transformer healthy and running safely? Turns out, it all starts with the oil. πŸ’‘πŸ”§

This week, the IEEE QUT Student Branch had the pleasure of attending a highly insightful session led by Philippe Reboul, GAICD, Managing Director at Molekulis Pty Ltd, on the fascinating topic of transformer oils, often referred to as the "blood of the transformer" 🩸⚑

πŸ“ Philippe shared his deep knowledge on why oil remains one of the most effective insulating and cooling mediums in transformers more than 130 years after its invention.

πŸ“ We explored how oil characteristics impact transformer longevity, and the role of modern alternatives and their environmental footprint 🌱

πŸ“ He also touched on the importance of international and Australian standards, and how DGA (Dissolved Gas Analysis) helps assess not just the oil’s condition, but the health of the entire transformer πŸ”

A big thank you to Philippe Reboul, for such an engaging presentation, and to everyone who joined us! πŸ™Œ

We’re excited to keep bringing these valuable learning opportunities to our community, so stay tuned for upcoming events! πŸ“…βœ¨
