🎓🌏 Celebrating Research Excellence and International Collaboration!

Congratulations to the recipients of THE-ICE Research Grant Scheme (RGS) 2026, who showcased their collaborative research projects at THE-ICE IPoE Forum 2026, hosted by César Ritz Colleges Switzerland in Brig! 🇨🇭

THE-ICE RGS 2026 attracted a record number of research proposals, with two collaborative projects selected following a blind peer review process.

The Scheme supports research among THE-ICE member institutions, helping to advance the quality of higher education in tourism, hospitality, events and culinary arts (TH&E).

🔹 Contextualising Case Studies Integrating Industry and AI Tools Undertaking Design Thinking Approaches

Presented by Dr Effie Steriopoulos (William Angliss Institute, Australia), with co-researchers Dr Marcela Fang, Dr Celiane Camargo-Borges and Dr Yoy Bergs (Breda University of Applied Sciences).

🔹 Reimagining Excellence: A Framework for Embedding Regenerative Leadership Competencies into Tourism and Hospitality Higher Education Standards

Presented by Dr Jocelyn Camalig (Lyceum of the Philippines University Manila) and Dr Joy Sheelah Baraero-Era (Far Eastern University), with co-researchers Dr Lilibeth Aragon, Dr Ryan Joseph G. Calinao and Dr Jan Racky Masa.

✨ New leadership for THE-ICE Board of Directors

Following THE-ICE 2026 Annual General Meeting, Professor Simon Pawson has been elected Chair of THE-ICE Board, with Mr Simon Lloyd elected Deputy Chair.

We are also delighted to welcome Professor Mei-Jung Sebrina Wang of 國立高雄餐旅大學 National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism（NKUHT）as a newly elected Director.

Our sincere thanks to Ms Gienke Osinga for her valued leadership as Chair. Ms Osinga will continue to serve on THE-ICE Board as a Director.

What a fantastic second day of !

Day 2 brought another full programme of engaging discussion, research and global perspectives, exploring AI and digital transformation, regenerative leadership and international cooperation across tourism and hospitality education.

A huge thank you to all our speakers, panellists, researchers and delegates, and to our wonderful host, César Ritz Colleges Switzerland, for their continued support and hospitality throughout the Forum.

It was a pleasure to welcome Professor Mei-Jung Sebrina Wang from 國立高雄餐旅大學 National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism（NKUHT）to THE-ICE IPoE Forum 2026, hosted by César Ritz Colleges Switzerland in Brig.

Highlights from Day 1 – THE-ICE 19th IPoE Forum 2026 🌏

What a fantastic first day of at César Ritz Colleges Switzerland in Brig.

The Forum officially opened with welcome remarks from leaders of THE-ICE, César Ritz Colleges, Canton of Valais, and the Municipality of Brig-Glis.

Delegates then heard a compelling keynote from Mr Laurent Kleitman, Group Chief Executive of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, who reflected on the evolving needs of the hospitality industry and the importance of closer collaboration between industry and education in preparing the next generation of leaders.

The programme continued with a thought-provoking plenary exploring transformational leadership in tourism, hospitality and events education and the evolving expectations of leadership across the sector.

This was followed by a lively roundtable World Café session on innovative pedagogies for creativity and entrepreneurial thinking, giving delegates the opportunity to exchange ideas and explore new approaches to teaching and learning.

A big thank you to all of our speakers, panellists and delegates for the insights, perspectives and conversations that made Day 1 such a memorable one. 🙌
