Congratulations to our Wind Symphony, who have been selected as finalists in the Regional Fanfare Finals!
Recently, our Instrumental Music students proudly represented MacGregor State High School at Fanfare, the biennial statewide festival celebrating the exceptional music-making that takes place in Queensland state school ensembles.
Following their outstanding performance, the Wind Symphony has been selected as one of only seven secondary school ensembles from across the Metro South region to perform at the Regional Finals, which will be held at the Old Museum on Tuesday 23 June.
With over 8500 students performing in 170 ensembles from 86 schools across the region, this achievement is a wonderful recognition of the dedication, talent and hard work of our student musicians and Instrumental Music staff.
Congratulations to all involved, and we wish the ensemble all the best for the Regional Finals!

Happy School Cleaner’s Day!
We would like to take this opportunity to recognise and thank our incredible cleaning team for all that they do for our school community.
Their hard work helps keep our school clean, safe and welcoming for students, staff and visitors each day. Much of their work happens behind the scenes, but its impact is seen and appreciated across our entire school.
As a small token of our appreciation, members of our cleaning team joined us for morning tea and were presented with a gift and message of thanks on behalf of the school.

Recently, our Junior and Senior Theatresports teams took to the stage in the Youth Theatresports Competition Heats at All Hallows' School and Iona College, showcasing their quick thinking, creativity and improvisational skills.
Both teams delivered outstanding performances, with our Senior team securing their place in the Semi Finals and our Junior team earning a wildcard entry to progress to the next round.
We are incredibly proud of the way both teams supported one another, embraced every challenge and represented our school throughout the competition. Congratulations to all performers, and best of luck to both teams as they prepare for the Semi Finals! 🎭✨

May was German Language Month, and our German students and staff celebrated with a range of activities exploring German language and culture.
Year 10 and 12 German students attended a screening of Das geheime Stockwerk (The Secret Floor) as part of the German Film Festival, while Year 10 students also participated in a Queensland and New South Wales cultural competition.
Staff and students rounded out the month with a Feel Good Friday event, taking on German language challenges, identifying famous German brands and learning about German inventions and discoveries.
One of the highlights and challenges was attempting to pronounce the 63-letter German word Rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz, which refers to "the law concerning the delegation of duties for the supervision of cattle marking and the labelling of beef" 🤯
Special thanks to Mrs Brown for organising this wonderful celebration of the German language!

Recently, Year 10 student Claire attended the Department of Education’s STEM Girl Power Camp, where she participated in a range of hands-on activities at universities, research institutions and STEM-focused organisations. Throughout the camp, she engaged with researchers, industry professionals and female STEM role models, gaining valuable insights into future study and career pathways in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).
The STEM Girl Power Initiative is a year-long program designed to inspire and support girls’ participation in STEM. The program provides students with opportunities to explore STEM pathways, participate in innovative workshops and events, connect with STEM professionals, and develop leadership skills as STEM ambassadors within their schools and communities. Well done Claire!

Unfortunately, due to the ongoing wet weather and the condition of the grounds, we have made the decision to reschedule the Athletics Carnival.
The safety of students and staff is our priority, and current conditions mean we cannot proceed with the event as planned. As a result, this Friday, 12 June, is now a regular school day for all students.
The Athletics Carnival will now be held on Friday 26 June (Week 10).
More information will be provided at a later date for Year 10 students who will be undertaking exam block at this time.
We thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Only 100 school days left until graduation for our Year 12s! 🎓🎉
On Monday, our Year 12 cohort celebrated the milestone of just 100 school days remaining until graduation. It was a great opportunity for students to pause, reflect on their journey so far, and look ahead to the exciting months to come.
The celebration included a sausage sizzle, cake, a visit from Mac the Lion, many photo opportunities, and a baby-photo wall showcasing how much our students have grown since their early years.
A special thank you to our School Captains and Year 12 Coordinator, Mrs Keay, for their efforts in planning and delivering such a memorable celebration for the cohort.
We are incredibly proud of our Year 12 students and look forward to supporting them through their final months at MacG ❤️💚🦁
