🩷Thankful for our volunteers! 🩷

While this may look like just a fancy new hot water system to you, to us this is the latest result of the hard work and personal time commitments of our Volunteer Maintenance Coordinators Christie & Clark.

Community Kindergartens are all about just that - our community helping each other. Having a parent volunteer investigate an issue, coordinate quotes, seek committee approval, organise plumber/electrician visits, and the installment of this system allows our paid staff to focus on their work, keeping staffing costs down, making sure our centre can keep kindy fees low and accessible to everyone.

Thank you Christie and Clark! We appreciate your support!

Sustainability starts small..... and local!

When we called out for donations of pre-loved children's clothing for our neighbour YMCA Cannon Hill Community Centre, our very generous Cannon Hill Kindy Families hit a home run! We had so many wonderful donations that we were able to drop off the excess to local Tingalpa store Sprout & Swap.

Sprout & Swap are a pre-loved baby and kids shop (newborn to size 8 at the moment) overflowing with quality clothing items, from high-end brands to basics at very affordable prices. You can even bring in your gently-used children's items to "trade in" for store credit, and then size up for this season!

When the current climate is expensive and there are so many new clothes being produced, this local gem are committed to limiting consumption and staying affordable for families.

This is our lovely Amber 👋

Providing quality early education is so important, and keeping qualified staff engaged and upskilled in an often underpaid industry can be a real challenge around Australia. We are so grateful that after 5 years working with us as our Inclusion Support Educator, Amber was able to receive the training, funding and mentoring support to become a qualified Early Childhood Teacher.

We are so proud of what you’ve achieved, Amber and are excited to have you on board as our ECT!

This is Amber and she has just started as an Early Childhood Teacher at Cannon Hill Kindy

She is amazing, and the kindy is SO HAPPY to have her in the role.

I was incredibly proud to hear that she’d been able to get to that point because of the Early Childhood Qualifications Pathway Program (QPP) Labor put in place when we were in Govt.

Which means our precious people working in early childhood can be supported to upgrade their qualifications. In Amber’s case, starting with a Diploma - she had the full tuition costs of an accelerated degree covered, a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education through Australian Catholic University (ACU).

She also was awarded a wrap-around program (supported by Lady Gowrie Queensland) - providing paid study leave, paid prac placements and mentoring support as she completes her degree, which helps to balance work, home and family commitments.

We believe wholeheartedly that early childhood workers need qualifications. And that they should receive as much support as possible to get them.

Things like this Pathways Program, and our Free TAFE Queensland program for early childhood workers, have been such great examples.

Well done Amber!

We recently honoured the brave heroes that help when trouble strikes for Thank a First Responder Day, with the children creating appreciation posters dedicated to these superstars.

Children spent time discussing the important roles that first responders play in keeping our community safe, and we wanted to share our respect and thanks to these amazing members of our community who help us when we call 000.

This experience also provided an opportunity to talk about the trusted adults and helpers in our community that children and families can turn to if they ever need support.

A number of our Kindy mums and dads are amongst these superstars who work in these roles. Kindy mum Peta says our poster at Morningside Police Station brings a smile to her face every time she sees it!

🥰 We love the community support we receive from our local MP’s and Councillors. 🥰
Di Farmer MP popped into our June Committee Meeting to meet our fantastic 2026 A-team of volunteer parents on our Committee, and share the many different ways she can help our organisation.
Di has such a keen interest in early education and the best way we can all support our children’s learning, so it’s a great opportunity to mutually share any insights into the Early Childhood Education Sector.

Our fabulous neighbours YMCA Cannon Hill Community Centre would appreciate donations of clean & usable children's clothing to share with some of the youngest members of our community.
Families and friends of Cannon Hill Kindy are welcome to bring donations into Kindy and we'll drop them off to the Y. ❤

Do you have any baby or children's clothing you no longer need?

Our centre is currently in need of baby and children’s clothing in good, clean condition. Second-hand items are absolutely welcome, but we kindly ask that all donations are free from stains and suitable for immediate use.

If you’re able to help, donations can be dropped off Monday to Friday, between 9:00am and 4:00pm at:
📍 18 Lang Street, Cannon Hill

We are so grateful for the ongoing generosity and kindness of our community—your support truly makes a difference for local families.

Thank you 💛
