📌 Sunday Spotlight: 2018’s 50th Anniversary

It’s hard not to notice the gorgeous work our members created in 2018 when you walk through the guild doors. Members were invited to create a square of their choosing and you can see just how beautifully they were collated and mounted for display!

Next time you’re at the guild, take your time to look at each individual piece — I always notice a new one every time I stop to examine them.

What do you think members will create for our 60th anniversary in 2028?

📌 Sunday Spotlight: Guild Meetings

Today we are highlighting those who can’t make it into the city to meet up regularly with members. If the prospect of coming into the city on a regular basis seems like an impossible task, fear not! There are plenty of other places members choose to meet weekly, fortnightly or monthly!

Aside from Guild HQ (open Tuesdays and Wednesdays, Thursday mornings, and Saturday afternoons), members meet at the following:

📚Chermside Library — 4th Saturday of the month 1pm and 2nd Monday of the month 6pm

📖Ashgrove Library — 2nd Friday of the month 12pm

🧵various locations on the Southside — every Tuesday (venue changes depending on availability so please check with the convener)

🛍️Tweed City Shopping centre — fortnightly todays 9:30am (NSW time)

☝🏼Cross Stitch and Quilting centre, Malanda (FNQ Tablelands) — monthly on a Tuesday 9:30am

More specifics on who to contact to attend are in the monthly guild newsletter next to our committee members details!

♻️👚 members at our AGM today were treated to a wonderful presentation by Meriel Chamberlin. 👚♻️

Meriel is textile scientist currently working alongside the Salvation Army in Australia’s efforts to close the circle of sustainability and repurposing textile waste with use of new machinery and purpose built AI.

During her presentation she outlined ways the technology in their Brisbane based warehouse is leading change in what can be such a wasteful industry as well as answered many questions from our members.

Thanks to Sally Wall for organising such a wonderfully informative and engaging speaker!
