SPEECH & COMMUNICATION EISTEDDFOD ๐ŸŽค๐ŸŽฌ

Speech & Communication Tuition is one of the many extra-curricular opportunities offered at St Columbaโ€™s, helping students build confidence and communication skills that last a lifetime. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿผ

It was fantastic to see those skills come to life at Saturdayโ€™s Eisteddfod. We loved watching some of our students take the stage! What superstars!! ๐ŸŒŸ

๐Ÿค”QLD JUNIOR SCHOOL PHILOSOTHON๐Ÿค”

Twelve of our Year 5 and 6 students participated in the QLD Junior School Philosothon at Hillbrook yesterday. ๐Ÿ™Œ

A Philosothon encourages students to investigate philosophical questions and ideas through discussion with students from other schools. It helps students develop critical thinking and reasoning skills and aims to promote a sense of community.๐Ÿ—ฃ

We are VERY proud to share that one of our teams won the competition and Clara (Year 5) won the 'Junior Philosopher' award. This is a remarkable achievement for our students, many of whom attended the event for the first time.๐Ÿ†

Congratulations to all students who represented St Columba's. Keep up the critical thinking!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

Last week we welcomed Australian BMX Freestyler Alec Danelutti to St Columba's as part of the โ€˜Olympics Unleashedโ€™ program.๐Ÿฅ‡

Alec spoke to Years 4-6 about his journey from a young boy with ambitions of competing in the Olympics, to now being on-track to qualify for the LA Games in 2028. ๐Ÿšฒ

He shared valuable insights about resilience, goal-setting and overcoming challenges. Our students also had the opportunity to ask Alec some very insightful questions about his career.โ“

We wish Alec all the best for his future, as he aims to represent Australia in LA and Brisbane (2032). We also know that Alec has inspired some future olympians here at St Columba's!๐Ÿ‘

โœST COLUMBA'S FEAST DAY โœ

The sun shone brightly on us as we celebrated the feast day of our patron saint, St Columba.๐Ÿ•Š

Our community BBQ Breakfast kicked off a fabulous day of events which included Mass, a drama performance (Saving Lil & Archie), Blankets-Buddies-(ice)Blocks, and pastoral group activities. ๐Ÿซถ

A HUGE thank you to our P&F and all the incredible volunteers for serving up a tasty breaky - it was the best way to start our special day!๐Ÿณ

We are also so grateful to our amazing APRE, Mrs Lewis, for organising such an enjoyable day for our students - our St Columba's community spirit was very much ALIVE. ๐Ÿ™
