Stranger Things and The Crown premiered.

Finding Dory, Zootopia and Deadpool were released.

The iPhone 7 launched.

The Paris Climate Agreement came into force.

The Panama Papers scandal made headlines.

The Mannequin Challenge went viral.

🇦🇺 What happened in Australia in 2016?

Malcolm Turnbull's Coalition government won the federal election.

Australia won 29 medals at the Rio Olympics, including eight gold.

Four people died in the Dreamworld ride tragedy.

Melbourne experienced a major thunderstorm asthma emergency.

Pauline Hanson returned to the Senate.

Almandin won the Melbourne Cup.

David Morrison was named Australian of the Year.

Nic Marchesi and Lucas Patchett were named Young Australians of the Year.

Sia and Flume gained international recognition.

The Western Bulldogs won their first AFL premiership since 1954.

✨ A Year in the Life of San Sisto – 2016

800 Years of the Dominican Order: Special symbols—a walking staff and journal—travelled to Dominican schools across Australia.

Celebrating Together: San Sisto and St Martin’s students created a commemorative photograph spelling “Dominicans 800 Years – Celebrate”.

College Leadership: Ms S. Hamilton became Principal, Mr B. Baker served as Deputy Principal, and Ms A. Dore served as Assistant Principal.

Spirit of San Sisto Award: A new award recognised students who embodied the College's values.

800 Random Acts of Kindness: Students celebrated the Dominican anniversary through acts of kindness.

Sharing the Dominican Symbols: College representatives travelled to Sydney to share the symbols with children with special needs.

Fra Angelico Extension: New kitchen, drama and music facilities provided additional learning spaces.

Café Caterina Awards: The tuckshop received four awards recognising its menu, healthy choices, community service and brigade.

International Women's Day Fun Run: At least 180 students participated.

Charity Fundraising: Students supported charitable causes through justice projects, Lip Sync Competitions and Socktober.

We’re looking forward to bringing together our San Sisto family across the generations for a special Generations Celebration. 🌿

Light refreshments will be served. ☕️✨

This special gathering is an opportunity to celebrate the history, heritage and generational connections that make the San Sisto community so special.

Whether it’s your Mum, Grandma or Aunt who came before you, we want to celebrate the generations of women who share a connection to San Sisto College.
