Date: Friday 28 August 2026, 1:15pm-2:45pm
Presenter: Dave Hagger
Venue: City Campus
Book here: www.u3abrisbane.org.au/event-enrol

Brisbane-based Dave Hagger is an accredited exercise physiologist with a background in exercise science, respiratory science, massage therapy, university teaching and home-based aged care.
He has worked with older adults across a wide range of situations including home visits, community groups, retirement settings and remote Queensland communities.
Dave has also delivered practical movement sessions and health education in regional communities, including Thargomindah.
Earlier in his career, Dave worked as a respiratory scientist and spent around 10 years as a seasonal academic at QUT, facilitating anatomy tutorials and practical learning experiences classes to students including nurses, radiographers, paramedics and exercise science students.
In 2021, Dave was featured on then-Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk’s social media channels, demonstrating simple exercises people could do at home during lockdown.
Through My Exercise Guy, Dave now focuses exclusively on helping older adults stay strong, steady, confident and independent at home.
The presentation includes:
- why traditional exercise routines often do not suit older adults
- how everyday movement can build strength and confidence
- why getting out of a chair matters more than most people realise
- simple balance ideas people can use safely at home
- how to encourage movement without pressure, fear or nagging
- the link between movement, confidence and independence
- practical ways to move more without needing a formal program.
The tone is friendly, relaxed and light-hearted, while still being grounded in allied health experience.
