Avenues Early Learning Centre - Parkinson

Avenues Early Learning Centre - Parkinson Welcome to Avenues ELC - Parkinson , where we provide exceptional care for your precious little ones. Catering from the ages of 6 weeks to 5 years.

Parkinson Early Learning Centre is a privately owned child care centre, offering the most exceptional care there is. At Parkinson Early Learning we have a cook on premises who provides nutritious meals for the children and will happily cater for any dietary requirements or allergies. Our educators are all dedicated, caring and passionate about what they do and the children's needs. Our centre has the kindergarten tick of approval, with our educational leader having her bachelor of education in early childhood. She runs a very interactive program with the use of a state of the art interactive white board. We do provide sunscreen and hats and we are also accredited by Sun Smart Queensland. Our doors are always opened, so please come in and say hi.

💙🤍 This morning, our Centre had the honour of coming together for the second year to remember and pay our respects to local community member, Constable Matthew Arnold, who proudly grew up in Parkinson. Constable Matthew Arnold tragically lost his life in the line of duty alongside Constable Rachel McCrow in December 2022.

Our Yawgar children and educators, along with our Kindergarten children, created beautiful handmade wreaths and placed them at the Constable Matthew Arnold Memorial in the park across from our Centre, honouring his memory and all fallen police officers.

This meaningful act of remembrance gave our children an opportunity to learn about courage, respect, community and service, while showing their appreciation for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice to keep our communities safe. 💙🤍

Today our jarjums enjoyed their very first visit to Dandiiri Library 📚

We learnt that Dandiiri is a Yuggera word that means ‘to come together’. We listened to the story ‘Going for Pippies’, joined in and had fun learning the Pippi dance. We then explored a range of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander puzzles and story books.
To finish our visit, each child chose a book or puzzle to borrow and bring back to the centre, where they will be shared with friends across all other rooms of our centre.

Our children have been busy creating plant and herb signs for our garden! 🌿

They began by writing the names of our bush tucker plants and herbs onto timber, specially cut to size by our local Men’s Shed. Then, in our woodworking area, the children used hammers and nails to join the stakes to their signs, developing confidence, coordination, and practical woodworking skills along the way.
Once their signs were complete, the children explored the garden to find the matching plants and herbs before placing their signs in the correct spots.
Now everyone can easily identify what’s growing in our garden while celebrating the children’s hard work and sense of ownership over their learning environment. 🌱🫛🌿
