Sometimes the simplest materials inspire the richest thinking. ✨

With a kitchen strainer, recycled container and cookie cutters, this little learner explored how sand could be scooped, poured, sifted and transferred. As she experimented, she was making predictions, testing ideas, solving problems and adapting her approach- all through self-directed play.

A beautiful reminder that children don’t need complicated resources to engage in wonderfully complex thinking. 🤎

Introducing our September Educator of the Month... Miss Laura! 👩‍🏫

We want to say thank-you, Miss Laura, for always giving 100% to your children and having child-like wonder that spreads to your children, families and co-workers. You embody the Affinty Value of Having Serious Fun and our Centre is a better place because of it! 💓

🍎 Fun fact: Miss Laura has been working at the centre and serving our community for 23 years! She's had a positive impact on hundreds of children who have come through these doors over the last two decades!

There was a little moment of wonder at our centre today! 🐣

Miss Laura brought in two chicken eggs resting in an incubator. When she gently shone a torch through one of the eggs, the children could see a tiny chick moving inside!

The children watched closely, shared what they noticed and had lots of questions about how chicks grow. We can’t wait to keep observing the eggs together. We may even see them hatch 🐣💛

🐔 Creativity, collaboration and a whole lot of laughter!

At last night’s staff meeting, our Educational Leader, Miss Emma, challenged our educators to put themselves in the children's shoes, and create a chicken using the materials provided, with complete creative freedom! 🎨

Together, we reflected on how different it would feel to follow strict instructions or use the dreaded stencil! 🤭

The lesson? Process over product. The richest learning happens as children explore, problem-solve, share ideas and make their own decisions, not just in the finished creation. 💛

Learning and laughing together helps our team strengthen our practice and nurture confident, creative learners. Thank you, Miss Emma, for an egg-cellent experience! 🐣

P.s - Miss Yasoda is a far better Teacher than she is Artist, we promise! 👩‍🏫
