Tips for developing emotional awareness at home:
✅ Label emotions: “I see you’re feeling sad, that’s okay.”
✅ Use books and stories to discuss feelings.
✅ Encourage expression through drawing, role-play, or music.
✅ Model managing your own emotions calmly.
Why it matters: Children who develop emotional awareness are more resilient, socially capable, and confident (Raising Children Network, 2023).

Today our Kindy A and Kindy B enjoyed an exciting Under 8’s excursion filled with fun, learning and adventure! We explored a variety of hands-on activities around the school, including watching marble art, creating windmills and designing/playing PacMan games. One of the highlights of the morning was seeing a fire truck and watching its huge ladder lower before the truck headed off on an "important job". Our friends also loved singing and dancing at the “Danny Go Disco,” spending time on the playground and joining the CSS primary students for a story. Throughout the excursion, the children demonstrated wonderful listening, kindness and safety skills, and we are so so very proud of them! It's always so lovely to spend time in the community!
We want to extend a big Thank You to Craigslea State School for inviting us over for a fun filled morning. It is safe to say our Kindy children had the BEST morning!

🌟 Bright Beginnings Talks: Parenting Insights Series 🌟 This month, we’re focusing on Nature and Outdoor Learning.
Outdoor play is essential for children’s physical health, development and overall wellbeing. Time outside gives children the freedom to move, explore, discover and connect with the world around them—building confidence, independence and a sense of adventure.

Ways to encourage outdoor learning at home:
✅ Spend time outside several times a day, big or small moments count.
✅ Go on simple nature walks to observe leaves, birds, insects, sounds and textures.
✅ Try everyday outdoor activities together such as watering the garden, sweeping paths or hanging washing.
✅ Encourage open-ended nature play: sticks, stones, leaves, mud and water (always supervised).
✅ Offer physical play opportunities like running, jumping, kicking balls or balancing on safe surfaces.
✅ Enjoy outdoor play even in colder weather eg, raincoats, gumboots and puddles make it fun!
Why it matters: Outdoor play supports fitness, motor development, emotional regulation, creativity and resilience. Nature-based experiences help children feel calm, confident and curious—forming strong foundations for learning and wellbeing (Australian Early Learning Framework, 2023).
