Pokémon trading

Today we were incredibly fortunate to welcome Jonty, who has extensive experience in Pokémon trading, to spend time with our children and young people.

When Jonty heard that KDK was hosting a Pokémon Trading Day, he generously offered to visit and share his knowledge with everyone. Throughout the session, he taught the children the art of trading, how to recognise fair trades, how to look after their collections, and most importantly, how to make informed decisions so they don't get taken advantage of when trading.

Our children were fully engaged, asking thoughtful questions, and soaking up Jonty's knowledge and experience. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they learnt new skills and gained a better understanding of the Pokémon Trading Card Game.

In an incredibly generous gesture, Jonty also donated over 2,000 Pokémon cards to KDK, along with information booklets that teach children how to play Pokémon. We are so grateful for this amazing contribution, which will allow even more children to join in the fun, develop new friendships, and build their understanding of the game.

A huge thank you, Jonty, for sharing your time, passion and expertise with our KDK families. Your generosity has made such a positive impact, and after today's session, our children are even more excited for Thursday's Pokémon Trading Day!✨

💗 KDK Kids First is Proud to Support Reloved by Collson 💗

At KDK Kids First, we believe that supporting our community extends far beyond our service.

It means standing beside organisations that are making a real difference in the lives of others.

We are incredibly proud to announce that KDK Kids First is now a proud sponsor of ReLoved by Collson, a beautiful not-for-profit organisation founded by Colleen , dedicated to supporting women and children escaping domestic and family violence as they begin rebuilding their lives with dignity, hope and love.

Recently, ReLoved by Collson delivered their very first donations to a mum and her baby. As Colleen was putting together the care packages, she recognised there was an urgent need for warm clothing for both women and children during these colder months.

Wanting to help in a practical way, Kathleen, Jamie and the KDK team were honoured to support this incredible cause.

Thanks to Kmart's amazing $2 clearance racks, we were able to purchase a haul of brand-new warm clothing to help kick-start future donations.

If you have any new or quality pre-loved clothing for women or children that you no longer need, we would be so grateful if you could reach out and we will come and collect.

We will ensure they are delivered directly to ReLoved by Collson, where they can help bring comfort, dignity and hope to families who need it most.

Together, we can remind someone that they are seen, valued and never alone.

We are so proud to stand alongside ReLoved by Collson and help make a positive difference in our community.

Snake Awareness at KDK** 🐍

As the weather warms up, snake awareness continues to be an important part of our daily routines.

Before we enter the garden or engage in loose parts play, our educators always take the time to talk with the children and young people about snake safety. These conversations are calm, clear, and age-appropriate, helping everyone feel confident and prepared.

We always begin by talking through *what to do if a snake is seen*Rhianna Hallidayhildren and young people know to:

* Cross their arms
* Stand very still
* Say “snake”

If an educator is not close by or cannot hear, the children are taught to tell the person beside them and calmly pass the message along until an educator can assist and respond.

Our service has a clear risk assessment in place that outlines how educators, children, and young people should respond safely and appropriately, and this is followed at all times.

This morning, Miss Rhianna led the children through these instructions, reinforcing the importance of staying calm, listening carefully, and looking out for one another.

We are so proud of how confidently and sensibly the children and young people engage in these conversations. Snake awareness is all about education, preparedness, and keeping everyone safe while still enjoying our beautiful outdoor spaces 🌿

We are so blessed at KDK to have such an amazing loose parts adventure playground
Where the children and young people can explore during open ended play

Loose parts equipment that can be moved around, combined in different ways or taken apart and put back together again by children through their own initiative. They are materials drawn from the real world, including natural materials.
