Young children are particularly vulnerable to food-borne illness. Their immune systems are still developing - and in group care settings, contamination can affect multiple children quickly.

Under Australian food safety standards, childcare centres that handle unpackaged or ready-to-eat food are required to:

- Appoint a certified Food Safety Supervisor (FSS)
- Ensure all food-handling staff complete accredited food safety training
- Keep records that demonstrate safe food practices

AIFS is a preferred supplier for Early Learning Australia (ELA), delivering food safety training that is online, self-paced and FSANZ Standard 3.2.2A compliant - with group enrolment options available for your whole team.

We’re proud to partner with Early Learning Australia to support safer childcare environments across the country.

When it comes to childcare, food safety is about more than compliance. It’s about protecting some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

Approximately 10% of infants and 8% of children experience food allergies, making food safety critical every single day in Early Learning Facilities.

From safe preparation and storage to allergen awareness and staff training, every step plays a role in keeping children safe and building trust with families.

At AIFS, we believe proper training isn’t just about meeting requirements. It’s about genuinely protecting the children in your care.

It's Allergy Awareness Week and in food service, the steps you take before a dish leaves the kitchen matter more than most people realise. 🌿

Whether you're a seasoned Food Handler or just starting out, these four checks could protect a customer from a serious allergic reaction.

Save this and share it with your team before your next shift.

We're excited to announce our partnership with Early Learning Australia (ELA).

Early Learning Facilities have a critical responsibility when it comes to food safety. Centres must meet food safety compliance standards, and with children among the most vulnerable to food-borne illness, getting this right matters.

Through this partnership, we're making it easier for ELF settings across Australia to access nationally recognised training designed specifically for childcare environments, including Food Safety Supervisor certification, Food Handler training and Food Allergen Management.

If your centre is working toward its compliance requirements, we'd love to help.
