Recently, as part of Child Protection Week, Ditto paid our centre a special visit.

For those who might not know, Bravehearts is Australia’s leading child protection organisation, dedicated to preventing child abuse and empowering young kids. Through Ditto's show, they take concepts and break them down into simple, memorable safety rules for children: listening to your body clues, understanding personal space and boundaries and knowing how to speak up to a trusted adult if something ever feels wrong.

🌜Father’s Day hits a little different when you spend your days around kids who think you hung the moon🌛

To the dads and father figures across our Building Futures family:

We see you at morning drop-offs, squeezing in one last tight hug as you say goodbye to your little mate.

We see you at pick-ups, getting dragged over to cheer on a newly mastered climb on our adventure playgrounds.

Thank you for the endless patience, the terrible dad jokes, the piggyback rides and the joy you bring into these little lives every day.

The Teatree children at our Building Futures Montessori - Forest Lake campus have been busy in their work lately, and the courtyard is looking a little more vibrant because of it!

Between diving into practical life experiences, building on their rapidly developing vocabulary through new language work and exploring the daily rhythm and new offerings of the Infant Toddler Community, the children have also taken on a major architectural renovation project: a brand-new courtyard mural!

There has been some artistic flair and highly concentrated painting happening (and on a few enthusiastic elbows). Watching the children work together to bring a shared vision to life is a brilliant example of why we let them lead the way!

Following the excitement of the Henny Penny Hatching program at the Building Futures Montessori - Forest Lake campus, Educator Missy has added chicken life-cycle objects and matching cards to her classroom shelves.

This is where the Montessori language curriculum really shines.

Long before a child puts a pencil to paper, language is being built through rich, concrete experiences. This experience gives the children the vocabulary (embryo, hatchling, pullet, hen) to match and associate with the living things they’ve just observed. It’s not about "rote learning" words from a flashcard; it’s about connecting language to a genuine, lived experience that the children are currently observing and experiencing.

We love seeing how a child's interest bridges across the curriculum. What starts as a Practical Life lesson in caring for animals naturally flows into language work, all by following the child's curiosity.

📚 Spotted in the foyer for Book Week! 📚

Building Futures Montessori - Forest Lake turned their entrance into a dedicated Story Sanctuary, so the children can grab a book and dive right into a magic story whenever they pass through the office.

This week, our shelves are packed with the characters and stories that have captured our children’s imaginations over the years. We love how our educators get into the spirit each year, going all out in their favourite book character costumes to celebrate alongside the children.
