The space is finally starting to come together!

Harmony Week Provocation! This week we are exploring the concept of families, belonging, kindness, respect, and similarities and differences between people and cultures. We will be focusing on ways of how we can include others and be kind and respectful in our words and our actions.

This week we are celebrating Harmony Week!

Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.

On Friday night, I attended a PD course about critical reflection.

Critical reflection is a vital part of an early childhood educator’s role. “Critical reflection or reflective practice is a form of personal learning and development that involves engaging with questions of philosophy, ethics and practice. As professionals, educators examine what happens within their settings and reflect on what they might change” (ACECQA).

It’s a stormy old night in Brisbane tonight, but nothing will stop us from spending a couple of hours on a Friday evening with the wonderful team at Wynnum FDC talking Critical Reflection on practice.

Family Day Care Australia (FDCA) is inviting families that have children enrolled in family day care to participate in a survey to help them understand:

• What families love about family day care
• Why they chose family day care for their children
• How family day care can be improved

The results will provide vital information that will help guide FDCA's policy positions and promotion of family day care into the future.

The survey takes less than five minutes and families that complete the survey will go into the draw to win one of three Apple iPads valued at $669. Educators of winning families will also win an Apple iPad!
