Ms Forker's literacy programs are used to help children with learning difficulties but are also used to extend average and gifted students.

One of the best things we can do as parents is to put our ego’s to the side.
Instead of try to maintain power because our ego says WE need to be the one on top. When we push our kids up and allow our own egos to take a back seat, we can strengthen our children’s self esteem.
Some things we can do:
- Ask kids for advice.
- Let kids know when they are better at something than you are.
- Connect with them on the same level, instead of you being ‘the all powerful’.
- Make decisions together.
- Talk to them with respect.
- Ask for their help when you find something difficult that you know they are good at.
- Be happy and encourage when they become better at a particular skill or hobby than you.
- Change your mind when they make a good point.
- Don’t shut them down when they start to win a debate with you.
- Never say things like ‘it’s my way or the Highway’ or ‘I say jump, you say how high’.

It has taken us over 3 weeks but we are finally in our new home 🏠
