“The first principle is that you must not fool yourself and you are the easiest person to fool.” - Richard Feynman 💡
Why is it so easy to believe our own excuses? This powerful reminder from the legendary physicist Richard Feynman highlights why facing the truth is often the hardest part of becoming wiser.
Real personal growth happens when we stop leaning on self-deception and start practicing real critical thinking. It’s not always easy to admit when we’re wrong, but it’s the only way to truly move forward.

In the 'Leading in the Age of AI' mini-series this week, Paul discussed social and emotional intelligence.
Our posts exploring emotional intelligence last week (learning to label and use our emotions to choose our behaviour) acts as the foundation for social intelligence. Social intelligence is a skill, and like any skill, must be trained 🌱

A sneak peak into the part of the second essential human-centric skill: Emotional Intelligence. Paying attention to what our brain is signalling through feelings (both internal and external) is paramount to understanding our emotional state.
Once we consciously know we're angry, for example, we can choose what to do next; to calm ourselves, step back, or act deliberately instead of just reacting.
This extends to others around us; we are able to examine others emotions, and choose to help, or act in a certain way for their benefit.

When we are overwhelmed, stressed, or exhausted, we tend to become absorbed in our thoughts. We are 'present' but not 'there'. Self-awareness invites us to pause, and consider what we are actually thinking and feeling in this current moment. This can help centre ourselves and communicate better with others.
If you're feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or even tired, take a moment and do this exercise 🤲
