“The first principle is that you must not fool yourself and you are the easiest person to fool.” - Richard Feynman 💡

Why is it so easy to believe our own excuses? This powerful reminder from the legendary physicist Richard Feynman highlights why facing the truth is often the hardest part of becoming wiser.

Real personal growth happens when we stop leaning on self-deception and start practicing real critical thinking. It’s not always easy to admit when we’re wrong, but it’s the only way to truly move forward.

Are you challenging your own beliefs today, or are you just telling yourself what you want to hear to stay comfortable? 🧠✨

New Video in the 'Leading with AI' Mini-series!!!
Despite how it might feel, the research is clear: There are core human skills that are going to be essential to successfully orchestrate the deployment of AI on an organisational level.

This video explores the importance of 'Effective Communication' and "Authentic Relating." Authentic relating is a practice of interpersonal connection where individuals use self-awareness and radical honesty to share their present-moment experience. This ultimately fosters deeper connection and trust - something that is ever-important in our AI driven corporate world.

Recently, the hero's journey has been on our minds at TOMI.
Maybe the rise of uncertainty due to workplace AI is our signal - our 'Call'.
At first, most of us resist it. But the landscape is changing, and there’s no staying in 'the known.' We must venture into the unknown, not to compete with machines, but to step into what they can’t do. AI is trained on what is predictable, this is our moment to learn to lead through what isn't.

How do our brains process and deal with uncertainty? What's 'negative capability'? Why is it so important that we cultivate the ability to adapt to uncertainty right now? These are entirely natural questions to ask in today’s age of uncertainty. Paul addresses them in the third video of our 'Leading in the Age of AI' mini-series.
In this video, he provides his '5 tips' on how to become more adaptable.

In the 'Leading in the Age of AI' mini-series this week, Paul discussed social and emotional intelligence.
Our posts exploring emotional intelligence last week (learning to label and use our emotions to choose our behaviour) acts as the foundation for social intelligence. Social intelligence is a skill, and like any skill, must be trained 🌱
This exercise is designed to help you pause, reflect, and start training your social intelligence.
Social intelligence grows in the moments we choose curiosity over judgement 🔎✨

Most people were never taught how to name what they feel.
But the moment you can label an emotion, you create space between you and the reaction.
Name it → understand it → choose your response.

A sneak peak into the part of the second essential human-centric skill: Emotional Intelligence. Paying attention to what our brain is signalling through feelings (both internal and external) is paramount to understanding our emotional state.
Once we consciously know we're angry, for example, we can choose what to do next; to calm ourselves, step back, or act deliberately instead of just reacting.
This extends to others around us; we are able to examine others emotions, and choose to help, or act in a certain way for their benefit.

When we are overwhelmed, stressed, or exhausted, we tend to become absorbed in our thoughts. We are 'present' but not 'there'. Self-awareness invites us to pause, and consider what we are actually thinking and feeling in this current moment. This can help centre ourselves and communicate better with others.

If you're feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or even tired, take a moment and do this exercise 🤲
