Can you believe we are halfway through our Veggie Fun Program for 2026? 🙌Our Veggie Fun Program runs for 10 months of the year, giving the QCCS Kindergarten Children real-world experience of our farm to plate approach to food & nutrition. By learning, planting, growing, harvesting and cooking our featured vegetables, children develop an understanding of food systems, as well as confidence in the kitchen.

This month our feature vegetable is beetroot! Loved on burgers in Australia, this nutrient rich vegetable will be whipped up into a creamy beetroot dip by our kindergarten children. Don’t forget to ask about the fun facts they have learned, they will love to share their new knowledge with you.

What a wonderful rainy day learning experience with Farmer H!
Today we explored all things potatoes! The children counted potatoes, investigated their size, shape and texture, and used their senses to learn more about this nutritious fresh produce. Through hands-on experiences, we discussed where potatoes come from, how they grow, and the important role farmers play in providing healthy food for our communities.

The excitement continued as we planted our very own potatoes! The children eagerly helped prepare the soil and plant the potatoes, learning about the growing process and what plants need to thrive.

We are looking forward to caring for our potato garden and watching it grow over the coming weeks. We can't wait for the day we can dig up our potatoes and see the results of our hard work.
