Does the name Claudia Goldin mean anything to you? 🤔
Last month Claudia become the third woman in history to win the Nobel Prize in economics for her research on women at work. (It's been awarded to 90 men since 1969).
The awarding committee gave her the prize for having advanced our understanding of women’s labour market outcomes. 🏆
Claudia analysed over 200 years of data. Her research busted some myths about the gender pay gap and women’s participation in the labour force.
This Nobel win in economics represents a dual triumph for women. Not only did she win for excelling in the predominantly male domain of economics, but she also received the award for her ground-breaking research on women's progress in the workplace.

A tragic day for women’s rights in America 🥲
17/02/2022
Today marks the 80th anniversary of the Bangka Island massacre. It was a day of horror that saw the murder of servicemen, civilians and Australian nurses.
On that day, 22 Australian nurses were forced to march into the sea and machine gunned in the back. It was a massacre. One of the darkest chapters of the Second World War.
Sister Vivian Bullwinkel was the sole survivor and witness. She said of her sister nurses: ‘They all knew what was going to happen to them, but no-one panicked: they just marched ahead with their chins up.’
This picture is of Lieutenant Colonel Vivian Bullwinkel in her service dress uniform.
On this day we remember all who were killed on that day, and honour the thousands of Australian nurses who have served Australia.
Lest We Forget.
