🌟 Professional Development at Goodstart Coorparoo Tiber Street 🌟

This month our team engaged in a powerful professional development session with John from ZenEd We learned so much about supporting children with emotional regulation, and how educators can co‑regulate with children through calm presence, connection and responsive relationships.

John’s training strengthened our understanding of how relationships form the foundation for children’s wellbeing, helping us guide big emotions, build trust and create safe, supportive learning environments.

We are grateful for the opportunity to continue growing our practice and deepening the ways we support every child.

Our Centre Director, Sarah, had the pleasure of speaking at a local mothers group about what early childhood education is all about.

It was a lovely morning spent chatting with families about how babies learn through relationships, play, routines, and responsive caregiving, and the many benefits of high‑quality early learning in those first years.

A big thank you to@micahprojects for welcoming us so warmly and creating such a supportive space for local families.

We love being part of our community and sharing the beautiful work our educators do every day.

🌿 Exploring Nature Through Play 🌿

Today the children explored natural items from our garden flowers, leaves and other treasures — and used them in their play and creations. Through this experience, the children engaged in rich, meaningful learning:

✨ Language and storytelling — Children described colours, shapes, smells and ideas, building vocabulary and creating stories inspired by what they found.

🤝 Social collaboration — Children worked together to gather materials, share ideas and build something collectively, strengthening teamwork and communication.

🔍 Scientific thinking — Children observed, compared and classified natural items, asking questions about how things work. They explored cause‑and‑effect as petals fell apart or leaves crumbled in their hands.

🏙️ Building Our City – Construction Play 🏙️

Today the children worked together to build a city using construction blocks. As they designed roads, towers and buildings, they explored meaningful learning:

🧩 Spatial awareness — Children learned how shapes, sizes and spaces fit together as they planned where buildings and roads should go.

🎨 Creativity and imagination — Children invented stories about who lives in their city, what happens there and how their buildings are used.

📐 Early maths concepts — Children explored counting, measuring, height, symmetry and patterns as they built and adjusted their structures.

💬 Communication skills — Children explained their ideas, negotiated roles and shared their thinking as they worked side‑by‑side.

Construction play encourages big thinking, creativity and confidence

🐷 Three Little Pigs Story Play 🐷

Our Kindy children have been creating their own Three Little Pigs story resources using recycled materials to build the three houses. This Tuesday we extended their learning with a Three Little Pigs play station featuring animal toys, hand puppets and the storybook. The children loved exploring the story, acting out characters and testing their handmade houses.

Our mud kitchen and dirt pit continue to be favourite spaces in our indoor–outdoor program.
Children spent the day mixing, digging, pouring, building, and exploring loose parts, turning natural materials into imaginative creations.

These environments are intentionally designed to support hands‑on learning, curiosity, and confidence, giving children the freedom to explore at their own pace.

Our children had an amazing time during our Sports Day excursion this week!
We explored ball sports, team games, jumping challenges, and throwing activities, giving everyone the chance to move their bodies, build confidence, and celebrate their strengths. ⚽🎾🏈🏀🏐⛹

We loved seeing the children cheer each other on and try new things!
