The evening will bring together students and distinguished guests from the judiciary, QUT Faculty and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for a night recognising the outstanding achievements and contributions of QUTLS’s mooting community.

The event will feature a summary of the year's mooting endeavours and addresses from our special guests, followed by the presentation of awards and an opportunity to network with members of the profession and fellow students.

Notice is given under rule 50(1) of the Constitution of QUT Law Society Inc. that nominations for committee positions for the QUT Law Society Inc. (‘QUTLS’) are open as at the date of this notice and close at 5:00pm on Monday 12 October 2026.

Any QUT Student interested in volunteering with the QUTLS Committee in 2026 is encouraged to apply. Nominees may apply for up to 3 roles.

Nominations may be taken from the floor if there are no nominees or only one (1) nominee. This will be at the discretion of the Returning Officers. Members interested in a position are strongly encouraged to apply using the form above.

Are you interested in developing your client communication skills?

Registrations are now open for the QUTLS x HSFK Client Interview Competition, and all students are encouraged to apply. If traditional advocacy is a little too daunting or intensive, give client interview a go!

Teams of two engage with a volunteer client to piece together relevant information and provide brief advice on possible legal pathways. Client interaction skills are essential for legal practitioners in all industries, and equally applicable to those pursuing a career outside traditional practice. This is the last QUTLS competition for 2026, so don’t miss your chance to get involved and gain real-world experience.

This competition requires minimal preparation. First year students and competitors of all experience levels are encouraged to register. This competition is non-adversarial and provides a comfortable introduction to competitions and oral advocacy.

Before registering, please review the competition rules available on the QUTLS website to confirm your eligibility.
Not looking to compete? You can still be involved by volunteering to be interviewed as a client. This is a great way to gain insight into client interaction and support competitors. Sign up via the Rubric ticket link in our bio.

With the QUTLS Law Dinner just around the corner, it’s time to recognise the students who have made a difference to our Law Society community throughout 2026. This year, we are opening nominations for the following awards: Peer Support Award, First Year Student of the Year, Law Revue Cast Member of the Year and QUTLS Sportsperson of the Year.

Please note that the winners will be announced on the night. All applications are confidential. You must submit your application before 11:59pm on 27 September 2026 for consideration.
