Engaging children in science is one of the most powerful ways to build a healthier, more informed future.👏

Recently, our EMBER study had the privilege of working with some budding scientists. These young participants didn’t just learn about research — they became researchers themselves, collecting their own data on bushfire smoke.

We were truly impressed by their curiosity and the care they put into their data collection. Their logbooks are a testament to how capable and engaged young people can be when given the opportunity.

Engaging in research directly with participants and communities not only strengthens research — it inspires the next generation to ask questions, seek evidence, and care deeply about the world around them.

A huge thank you to our young scientists — the future of environmental health research is in good hands.

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is the most common inherited disease affecting the developed world—and it’s a cause close to our hearts at the Children's Health and Environment Program (CHEP).
