Works are currently underway to bring Journey Early Learning to the community of Indooroopilly and surrounding suburbs. Our early learning centre will provide 54 child care places for children aged from 6 weeks to 6 years of age where they can make a positive start to a life of learning, development, growth and opportunity. Conveniently located close to Indooroopilly Shopping Centre, just off Moggill Road in Rylatt Street, this project will see Journey’s unique vision come to life by converting a beautiful church and adjoining building into an inspired early learning centre. We are passionate about guiding developmental outcomes and providing a nurturing environment for children which supports and inspires a lifelong love of learning. We use the Early Years Learning Framework as a basis for our curriculum and ensure we meet and aim to exceed, the National Quality Standards. We believe by remaining constantly curious, collaborating and communicating with children, educators, families and the wider community we will achieve the best outcomes for each child.

🚀🌌 Kicking Off Space Week in Kindy! 🌌🚀

Our Kindy children have blasted off into Space Week with a fantastic invitation to design and create their very own interpretations of a spaceship! 👩‍🚀👨‍🚀🚀

Using a variety of open-ended resources, including blocks, LEGO, connectors and loose parts, the children explored their imaginations and brought their spaceship ideas to life. Some designs were big, some small, some had lots of different parts, and every creation was wonderfully unique! ✨

As they designed and built, the children were developing their problem-solving, creativity, spatial awareness and fine motor skills, while sharing ideas, negotiating with friends and working together to bring their creations to life.

We can’t wait to see where our Kindy space adventures take us next! 🌙🪐⭐️

Our Kinder children have been enjoying some special moments working together as a construction team! 🤝

With big ideas and plenty of imagination, the children shared their thoughts, collected materials, took turns and helped one another bring their construction project to life. There were lots of conversations, problem-solving moments and opportunities to listen to different ideas.

It was wonderful to see the children collaborating, negotiating and learning from one another while having fun along the way! 💬💡

🐛🌿 From Caterpillars to Butterflies! 🦋🌸

Sometimes the most exciting learning experiences are the ones we discover right in our own backyard! 🌱

Our Toddlers have recently become fascinated by some tiny visitors hiding beneath the trees, caterpillars! 🐛

Their curiosity quickly turned into investigation as the children watched them wiggle, move, rest and munch on leaves. We heard lots of wonderful theories and observations as the children wondered what the caterpillars were doing and what they might need to grow. 💚

This spontaneous discovery has sparked a new interest in caterpillars, butterflies and the amazing life cycle of these little creatures.🐛➡️🦋

We’ll be exploring questions such as:
✨ What do caterpillars eat?
✨ How do they move?
✨ Where do they live?
✨ What happens inside a chrysalis?
✨ How does a caterpillar become a butterfly?

And we’d love our Journey families to join in! 💕

Families are such an important part of our Journey community. When they share their time and interests with us, they become part of the children’s learning. 💛

We were excited to welcome Ollie, to Kindy for storytime! He read Hop on Pop, Danny and the Dinosaur and Pete the Cat’s Family Road Trip.

The children listened, asked questions and shared their ideas about the stories. Afterwards, we talked about the books and chose our favourites. 📖

Every opportunity is a learning opportunity! 🌿

Today our Nursery children explored the local community from their prams. Along the way, they watched cars pass, spotted people at the bus stop and took in the colours, sounds, buildings and shops around them.

There were curious looks, pointing fingers and so much to notice. Our educators talked with the children about what they could see, turning a simple walk into a chance to connect, communicate and discover the world beyond our centre. 💛

Cause and effect in action!

Through play, children discover that their actions can make things happen. They try an idea, watch the result, and often try again to see what changes. These moments build curiosity, problem-solving skills and confidence.

This connects with Jean Piaget’s theory that young children learn by actively exploring their world. Each “What happens if I do this?” is an opportunity to investigate and learn.

🧪🌈 **Little Scientists in Action! 🔬✨

Our Kindy children had an exciting day of mixing, predicting and discovering as they explored a colourful acid and base experiment!

Starting with bright yellow turmeric, the children watched in amazement as the colour changed to brownish-red when detergent was added… and then shifted back towards yellow when vinegar was introduced! 😮💛❤️

Through this hands-on experience, our little scientists were busy predicting, observing, questioning and investigating while learning about cause and effect and the magic of scientific reactions.

Who knew science could be so colourful and fun? 🌈🧪✨

Today in our Kindy room, we celebrated International Day of Peace. We began our morning with the Rainbow Song, taking a quiet moment to breathe, relax our bodies and settle our minds.

Together, we explored the questions, “What does peace mean to us?” and “Where do you feel peaceful?” The children shared thoughtful ideas about the places, people and activities that help them feel calm, happy and safe.

We also discussed what we can do when we need to feel calm. The children suggested taking deep breaths, resting, reading a book, finding a quiet space and spending time in a peaceful environment.

This conversation inspired an exciting idea—to rebuild our Quiet Corner! Together, we brainstormed ways to make the space cosy, welcoming and peaceful, with cushions, soft toys, books and calming sensory resources.

To finish, the children created drawings of their own peaceful moments, representing the people, places and experiences that bring them comfort and calm.

We look forward to working together to create a special Quiet Corner where everyone can find a little peace when they need it. 🌈💛
