This term, the girls took over and became the interviewers! 🎤 💕 They asked each other (and even me!) what they love most about coming to MRSA.

Their answers were so sweet:
🌸 The fun activities
🌸 The positive energy
🌸 Making friends
🌸 Feeling happy and included
🌸 And of course… the end-of-term party! 🎉

Watching the girls confidently ask questions, listen to each other, and share their thoughts was such a beautiful reminder of what MRSA is all about—connection, confidence, friendship, and having fun while being yourself. 💖

If you’re looking for a place where your child can build self-esteem, learn friendship skills, and feel like they belong, we’d love to welcome you.

What Girls Really Need Before High School - I explore the inner foundation girls truly need before high school — self-awareness, self-acceptance, self-trust, and internal validation 19/05/2026

What do girls really need before high school?
Working closely with girls has shown me that friendship struggles are often about much more than friendship skills.
Self-awareness, self-acceptance, self-trust, and internal validation are the foundations that shape how girls experience friendships, confidence, and belonging.
This is the heart of my latest blog post. Link in bio.

So what IS a youth mentor?!

Someone who can gently hold space for a young person to open up, share what’s on their mind, and feel genuinely heard — it's conversation without pressure, labels, or expectations.

It’s a supportive space where connection grows through discussion and sharing stories, ideas and intentions.

It’s like having another trusted adult in their world — someone in their corner, helping them make sense of friendships, emotions, and everyday challenges in a way that feels natural and safe.

It’s not like a teacher, where there’s instruction or performance expected.
It’s not like a counsellor or psychologist, where it can feel formal or problem-focused.

It’s about building trust, confidence, and self-awareness — giving them space to be themselves, talk things through, and feel supported as they grow.

Surround yourself with people who uplift, inspire, and challenge you! 🌱

Have you ever had a mentor? Tag someone who has made a difference in your life.

I’ve been thinking a lot about this quote lately.

The holding it all together… while sometimes feeling like you’re falling apart.
The constant thinking about everyone else.

The love that is fierce and protective and overwhelming — and still having moments where you wonder if it’s enough.

Guilt, pride, worry, hope. All sharing the same time.

It’s not calm. It’s not neat or predictable.

It’s layered and emotional and, a lot of the time, a bit messy.

And the tricky part is, kids don’t see most of that.
They see the “no.”
They feel the tiredness.
They hear the nagging. The moments where patience runs thin.

But they don’t always see what’s underneath it — how much is being carried, how much love is actually sitting behind all of those moments.

I keep thinking about how powerful it would be if we helped kids understand that a little more.

Not just what their mum does for them, but what she’s holding while she’s doing it.

Because when they start to see that, even in small ways, something shifts.
There’s more understanding. More empathy.

A bit more softness between everyone. đź’›

To help girls understand themselves.
To teach them how to build strong, healthy friendships.
To help them grow in confidence and truly love who they are.
And to remind them that they are already remarkable. ✨

The tween years can be tough on confidence.

Friendships are changing, school can feel demanding, and it’s easy for girls to start comparing themselves to everyone around them.

Sometimes they just need gentle reminders like these.

Which one does your daughter need to hear most today?

At My Remarkable Self, we create offline spaces where girls aged 8–13 can grow in confidence, build strong friendships, and learn more about who they are 💛

What Helps Friendships Bloom? 🌼

This week we talked about what fills our friendship pot — being included, being treated with kindness, being listened to, and feeling like we can be ourselves.

The girls also shared what can drain the pot and weaken friendships — things like hot-and-cold friends, gossip, “just joking” remarks that hurt, and feeling left out.

Learning to recognise these things in Grade 3 is so valuable. It helps girls understand the kinds of friendships where they feel happy, valued and comfortable being themselves, and as they get older it helps set them up for healthy friendships for life đź’›
