BOOTSCOOTIN’ BASH – SOCIAL DANCING

Not long to go now until our next Bootscootin’ Bash on Fri 9th Oct!

There will be 3 social dance blocks on the night, in between the beginner workshops… about 90 minutes of social dancing all up. What dances will we dance? You tell me!

Click on the BootStepper link below to submit your requests. I’ll close this list at 11:59pm on Sun 4th Oct, and will then release the finalised social dancelist on Tues 6th Oct. No requests will be taken at the event itself.

PLEASE NOTE:
Before adding a new request, have a quick look through the list first. If your request is already on the list, please vote for that dance (click the ‘like’ button, ie the heart) rather than adding it again.

Drop your social dancing requests in for the Bootscootin' Bash on Fri 9th Oct. Submit your requests by 11:59pm Sun 4th Oct - I will then make and release the social dancing setlist on Tues 6th Oct. PLEASE NOTE: Before adding a new request, have a quick look through the list first. If your request is...

Hoedowns for Country Towns is where my line dancing teaching journey started, nearly 5 years ago. While it was mainly a one-year venture in 2022, Kate (who now runs Hope In My Boots in Tbar) and I still run one big event together each year under the HFCT banner, cycling through the states.

It's nearly time for our 2026 annual event, happening this Saturday in Carranballac, Victoria (80km west of Ballarat). The local community has been working SO hard behind the scenes putting this event together.

We have sold over 300 tickets so far but are hoping to get to 500. If you know anyone who lives anywhere even remotely close to Carranballac, tell them to grab a ticket!

All profits from the event will support the rebuild of the Carranballac Hall. If you can't attend, but would like to support the cause, community supporter tickets are available for purchase at the ticket link.

NO CLASSES THIS WEEK.

It’s Roadie to the Grandie time… Dad’s and my annual pilgrimage to Melbourne for AFL Grand Final week. Here’s a photo from the first year of Roadie To The Grandie… back in 2015 when our team was actually good.

Has our team made the final this year? Not even close.
Do we have tickets to the game? Nope.
Will we watch the game in Fed Square and have the best time? Absolutely.

The tradition has been on hold for a few years for various reasons, but this year, IT’S BACK.

Why do you need to know all of this? You don’t, just remember that there are no classes this week (21/9 at Northgate, 22/9 at Murrumba and 24/9 at Fitzgibbon), as I’ll be en route to singing Up There Cazaly with the rest of Melbourne.

Back to normal scheduling next week, see you then!

TUTORIAL TIME 🤠

💃 Shut Up And Dance!!!

🔴 Intermediate, 48 count, 2 wall
🎶 Shut Up and Dance, by WALK THE MOON

We learnt 'Shut Up and Dance!!!' in the improver/intermediate class at Northgate on Monday night, but there is no tute video for it on CopperKnob or BootStepper, so here's a quick walkthrough from me (plus a demo at the end).

As for the restarts:
You will start walls 3 & 5 facing 12:00. Both times, restart after 40 counts (after the left half shuffle), you will be facing 6:00 when you restart. First restart is at 1:08 in the song, second one is at 1:49.

The tag/restart: You will start wall 8 facing 6:00. After the first 14 counts, you will be facing 3:00 (stepsheet says 9:00, this is incorrect), do the following 2 counts and restart the dance at 6:00.
15&16 Step L behind R, Turning ¼ R step R forward, Step L forward.
This restart happens at 2:42 in the song.

🤠 September is here!

No night classes on 21/9, 22/9 and 24/9, as Dad and I will be road tripping to Melbourne for AFL grand final week. We don’t have tickets, our team finished 16th on the ladder, but Roadie To The Grandie is always my favourite week of the year. Chances are 4000km of sitting down will be just what I need after a very busy first few weeks of September.
