Police visit at Kingbird!
We had an exciting visit from the police at Kingbird. The children were thrilled to take part in a special "show and tell" session with our community heroes. Children got the chance to try on a real police test, touch a pair of handcuffs used to catch the bad guys, and even sit in a police car- pretending to drive like real officers!

The visit sparked lots of curiosity and conversation, and it was a memorable hands on experience for all. To show our appreciation, the children created and sent a heartfelt thank you card to our visiting officers.
A big thank you to our local police for taking the time to visit and inspire our young learners!

The children enthusiastically created a vibrant model of the solar system, including Mercury, Venus, Earth, and the remaining five planets. They began by using balloons as the base structure for each planet. Carefully layering tissue paper over the balloons, they applied acrylic paint to add distinct colors and textures, bringing each planet to life.

Mercury was painted in gray and silver tones to capture its rocky, cratered surface. Venus glowed with shades of yellow and orange, reflecting its thick, cloudy atmosphere. Earth stood out with its iconic blue oceans and green landmasses, detailed with precision. The other planets, like fiery red Mars, the gas giants Jupiter and Saturn with their iconic rings, and the distant icy Uranus and Neptune, were all vividly brought to life with bold strokes of paint.

The children showed creativity and teamwork, blending colors and experimenting with different painting techniques to achieve unique effects for each planet. Their finished solar system was a fantastic representation of their imagination and artistic skills, proudly displayed for everyone to admire.

In "Draw Our World Together" activity, the children come together around a large sheet of paper, each adding unique elements to create a shared artwork that represents their world. They use crayons, markers, and colored pencils to depict scenes, symbols, and landmarks that reflect different cultures and backgrounds. Some children draw traditional clothing or flags, while others sketch familiar foods, landscapes, or celebrations from their own or imagined cultures.

During the mooncake-making activity, the children demonstrated their fine motor skills as they manipulated the playdough. Rolling, pressing, and shaping the dough required them to use the small muscles in their hands and fingers, which are essential for tasks like writing, cutting, and buttoning clothes. By carefully pressing the playdough into the intricate mooncake molds, the children showcased their ability to control their hand movements with precision and coordination. This activity not only fostered creativity but also helped to strengthen their fine motor development, which is crucial for many daily tasks and future learning.

The children at Kingbird Centre have been carefully nurturing their own wheatgrass, watching it grow day by day. Now, the time has come for the exciting harvest! The children eagerly took up small scissors, gently cutting down the vibrant green wheatgrass that they had grown themselves. Each child carefully gathered their harvest, ready to bring it home for the next step.

In the classroom, the educators explained the nutritional benefits of wheatgrass, emphasizing its rich content of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. She encouraged the children to take their wheatgrass home and use a mixer to make a healthy juice, which could be shared with their families. The children were enthusiastic about the idea, excited to try something new and healthy that they had grown with their own hands.

Our Kingbird Centre recently hosted a delightful pajama party, where the children joyfully participated in a range of festive activities while dressed in their favorite pajamas. This event was not just about fun; it also served a charitable purpose, with each child donating a gold coin to support an asthma organization. The highlight of the day was the creative display of artwork by the children. They showcased their artistic talents through various forms, possibly including decorated eye masks, which they proudly presented to their friends during a parade. Singing the pajama song, the children paraded around, adding a musical element to the vibrant atmosphere of the celebration. This event beautifully combined fun, creativity, and a spirit of giving.
