The Rosalie Old Boys’ Association (OBA) was formed to facilitate a continuing relationship with the College and former classmates. This is achieved by coordinating a number of functions throughout the year that all Old Boys are invited to attend.

Some Rosa Memorabilia sent to me today by an Old Boy anonymously. Stuff I have never seen before. I guess I am showing my age. We had coca-cola yoyos but the brothers confiscated them.

Christmas Function Announcement and Hall of Fame Update
Important Information for Old Boys and Association Members

G’day everyone,

I’m writing to clarify that there won’t be a separate social media event set up for our upcoming Christmas function at The Polish Club on 5 December. All members have already received a detailed invitation via our mailing list, which includes everything you need to know about the event, including how to RSVP.

On the topic of RSVPs, I’d like to quickly touch on what that means and why it’s important. RSVP stands for “Répondez s’il vous plaît”, which is French for “please respond”. In Aussie terms, it’s a polite way of asking you to let us know if you’re coming or not. This helps us make sure we’ve got enough space, food, and festive cheer for everyone, so please reply to your invitation as soon as you can.

This year’s function will feature a special moment: the Hall of Fame Award presentation to the son of our very first inductee, Stan Pilecki. It’s a proud tradition and an opportunity to recognise the outstanding contributions of our Old Boys. However, I have to admit I’m a bit disappointed by the lack of nominations and engagement from some members. These awards are only possible when you put forward those deserving mates whose stories inspire and uphold our values.

With the school’s 100th anniversary coming up in 2029, now’s the perfect time to reflect on our history and make sure we’re honouring those who’ve helped shape it. Greater participation from everyone, including nominating Old Boys for recognition, makes our community stronger and more connected.

On a related note, I’d like to highlight that the number of financial members is still quite low compared to the size of our database. If you haven’t renewed your membership or know someone who hasn’t, please consider supporting the association. Your involvement keeps our traditions alive and ensures we can keep putting on events like these for years to come.

Let’s make this Christmas function a memorable one, and set the tone for a huge celebration in 2029. Looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible at The Polish Club!

Cheers,

Jim Griffith
