Great news for skilled migrants! 🎉 Migration Tasmania has received 2,050 State Nomination places for the 2026–27 program:

✅ Subclass 190 (Skilled Nominated): 1,250 places
✅ Subclass 491 (Skilled Work Regional): 800 places

📌 Key Updates:
🔹 Applications already lodged will continue to be assessed under the program requirements that applied when they were submitted.
🔹 If you currently have a pending Subclass 491 nomination application but want to be considered for Subclass 190, you will need to withdraw your existing application and submit a new Registration of Interest (ROI) once the 2026–27 Tasmania program opens.
⚠️ Please note that an invitation for Subclass 190 is not guaranteed and will depend on demand and available nomination places.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT | Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189) – Invitation Round Confirmed

The Department of Home Affairs has confirmed that the next invitation round for the Skilled Independent visa (Subclass 189) will take place on 4 June 2026.

This is a significant opportunity for skilled migrants seeking permanent residency in Australia - without the need for employer sponsorship or state/territory nomination.

🔍 What you need to know before the round opens:

✅ Your Expression of Interest (EOI) must be submitted in SkillSelect before the round
✅ Your points score and occupation must meet the current threshold
✅ All skills assessments, English language tests, and supporting documents should be current and in order
✅ Timing is everything: When points scores are equal, the Department prioritizes the oldest EOI first. Submitting as early as possible gives you a competitive edge.

Invitation rounds are highly competitive and cut-off scores can shift with little warning. A small error or missing information can cost you an invitation.

Queensland's State Nominated Migration Program has now opened with a significantly higher number of places in FY 2025-26 as compared to FY 2024-25, more than double the allocation. Please refer to the screenshot below and www.migration.qld.gov.au/.
