Good morning from Australia. :D
Pokemon Arena 2d trailer has over 50,000 views on instagram! 20k more overnight! Woo! our Instagram fan page following 10x'd over night and still growing.
There has been a lot of requests for PVP. I've tried to prioritise the single player experience to maximise all of the features. But obviously we want to play with our friends.
This week we have been GRINDING on a port from Python to making it a web game. At first it was a nightmare, but things are looking very promising. Being a web game will make it much easier to allow for PVP and easier to share freely with all of you amazing supporters who have put up with me over the years. (Decades lol)
I talk quite loosely here because many of you have been here a long time and I try to be open our of appreciation for those who've stuck by Fabled Apps / Big Kid Nation.
I actually sold my 20 year old Pokemon card collection to fund this venture. It was a very sad experience, because when I was in highschool (2000-2005) my Pokemon cards were stolen by bullies. When I was about 23 years young I bought the first Pokemon card set (mix of the first series shadow and second edition) just to fill that void and still collected (randomly) over the years. I am almost 100% certain I got pressured and ripped off big time when I sold my cards. But it was enough to take some time off work, pay for extra tools and resources and put close to whatever 10 hours per day every this year would be. I've tried SEVERAL concepts for Pokemon games. (I will show you all some clips when this releases)
This is a full combat game, but an RPG is absolutely on the table. World building (and animations) has been the most difficult part for me. I think I have made the best Turn based system in Pokemon. But it needs to be in an RPG if I use it.
So until I can get my head around that, this battle tester gets to be a full game for all of you to enjoy.
As previously confirmed, already a mixture of generations with 51 Pokemon. Many features NEVER in any Pokemon game. Some I haven't seen in fan games (I've played a lot of fan games) In the Beta I think I will push for a lot more Pokemon, even if rough. So we can get quick feedback and polish. (Rough Pokemon will get a marker so you know how polished they are prior to playing with them)
Some people were unhappy with the 2 second Ai clip in the first Trailer. (most people didn't mind at all as it looked cool.) but going forward I will do my best to opt out of video generations. I do use ai locally on my machine which helps significantly as well as Claude Code. Without it, the port wouldn't have been possible and the game wouldn't hit it's full potential. But I can assure you, the ideas being implemented come from me, over the last 20 something years of my failures and lessons.
I am clearly doing everything I can to make this as epic as possible so we get the game Nintendo could have made 20 years ago! Heck yes.
If you read this far tell me which Pokemon you absolutely must be able to play in the game!
