🌿 Connecting Generations at Stretton! 🌿

Some of our Koala children recently enjoyed a very special excursion to Stretton Gardens Residential Aged Care, where they spent time connecting with the residents and participating in activities together.

It was wonderful to see the children and residents interacting, sharing smiles, laughter and special moments throughout their visit.

These intergenerational experiences provide beautiful opportunities for children to develop empathy, kindness, confidence and a sense of community, while bringing joy and meaningful connections to our older generations.

We are looking forward to continuing to build our relationship with Stretton Gardens, creating more opportunities for our children and the residents to connect, learn from one another and form special friendships. 🌸

A big thank you to the wonderful team and residents at Stretton Gardens for welcoming us!

A Very Special Addition to Our Kindy

Our Kindy children are already enjoying exploring the beautiful doll house donated by Miss Tally. This is an extra-special addition to our environment, as the doll house was handcrafted by Miss Tally’s great-grandad, who spent his time making doll houses to donate to childcare centres and hospitals. Even the tiny furniture inside was lovingly crafted by hand! 🪑✨

It is wonderful to see something with such a special history being given a new life at Stretton, with another generation of children. What a beautiful legacy for Miss Tally to share with our Stretton community.

🌸 Wildflower Inspiration at the Art House

Miss Dee was inspired by her recent holiday back to her home country, where beautiful wildflowers can be found everywhere. Bringing a little of that inspiration back to Stretton, she ventured out to our Bush Kindy space to gather a colourful collection of wildflowers and native foliage.

These beautiful natural treasures will now make their way into the Art House, where Miss Dee will incorporate them into creative projects and experiences with the children. 🎨

We love seeing the natural environment become part of our Art house, connecting nature, art and inspiration from the world around us.

🌿 Growing Our Bush Kindy Knowledge 🌿

Last week, two of our educators had the opportunity to attend a Bush Kindy Leader Course, further developing their knowledge and understanding of Bush Kindy practices and outdoor learning. 🌳

The training allowed them to delve deeper into the purpose and philosophy behind Bush Kindy, while exploring new approaches to nature play, appropriate risk-taking, child-led learning and making the most of natural environments.

Most excitingly, they returned with fresh ideas and inspiration for ways we can continue to strengthen what we already do, both within our Centre and during our Bush Kindy adventures. 🌿🐛🪵

We are passionate about investing in our educators’ professional development because when our educators continue to learn, our children benefit too. Cottonwood Learning

🌸 Spring has sprung at Stretton! 🌿

Our gardens are certainly letting us know that spring has arrived, with an abundance of mulberries ready for picking!

The children have been loving searching through the branches for ripe mulberries, picking them straight from the tree and taste-testing their finds along the way. 😋

These simple moments are such a beautiful part of childhood, connecting children with nature, learning where food comes from and enjoying the seasonal changes happening all around us. 🌱

🚒🔥 A Special Visit from the Fire Brigade! 🔥🚒

We had some very excited children at Stretton when the Acacia Ridge Fire Brigade came to visit us! ❤

The children had the opportunity to learn more about fire safety and the important role firefighters play in keeping our community safe. They explored the fire truck, checked out some of the equipment and, of course, one of the biggest highlights was getting to have a turn spraying the fire hose! 💦🚒

A huge thank you to the Acacia Ridge Fire Brigade for taking the time to visit the children.🔥
