☕🍰 Welcome to our Toddler Café! 🍰☕

Our toddlers have been having so much fun engaging in imaginative role play in our café, which has been set up in the Home Corner. From taking customer orders and serving delicious pretend meals to making cups of coffee and enjoying friendly conversations, the children have fully embraced their café experience!

Role play is a wonderful way for children to develop a range of important skills, including: ⭐ Communication and language development ⭐ Social skills and cooperation ⭐ Turn-taking and sharing ⭐ Problem-solving and critical thinking ⭐ Confidence and self-expression ⭐ Early numeracy through counting and exchanging play money ⭐ Fine motor skills through handling utensils, cups, and food items

Most importantly, our little café owners and customers have been having an incredible amount of fun while learning through play! We love watching their creativity, imagination, and friendships flourish as they explore real-world experiences in a meaningful and engaging way. ❤️

🌿✨ Toddler Herb Playdough Exploration ✨🌿

This week, our Toddler friends had a wonderful time exploring our Italian herb playdough! Using their hands to squeeze, press, roll and mould the dough, the children enjoyed discovering the delightful scents of the herbs mixed throughout.

This sensory experience encouraged creativity, supported fine motor development, and engaged the children's senses as they explored different smells and textures. It also sparked meaningful conversations as the children shared their observations and described what they could feel and smell.

We love providing hands-on learning opportunities that inspire curiosity, imagination, and discovery every day! 💚

🎵🎶 Music, Rhythm & Creativity! 🎶🎵

Our children have been having a wonderful time exploring the world of music and rhythm! Through singing, clapping, moving to beats, and experimenting with a variety of musical instruments, they have been discovering how music can be used to express themselves and connect with others.

A special highlight was when Miss Dani introduced the children to the ukulele and demonstrated how to play it. The children were fascinated by the different sounds the instrument could make and enjoyed learning how music is created.

Music experiences support children's learning in so many ways. As they explore instruments and rhythm, they are developing: 🎵 Listening and concentration skills
🎵 Coordination and motor skills
🎵 Confidence and self-expression
🎵 An understanding of patterns, rhythm, and beat
🎵 Social skills through sharing and making music together

The children absolutely love our music sessions and are always eager to learn more about different instruments and the sounds they create. We can't wait to continue our musical journey together! 🎸🎶💛

Today we celebrated a very special educator from our centre! Our very much loved Miss Anita who has been an educator/cook at our centre for 20 years is retiring next week. Today we celebrated her 20 years and also her retirement. Miss Anita has meant so much to so many educators, children and families for so many years. Some of our old educators joined us to celebrate this special milestone. We all wish Miss Anita all the very best and thank her for her contribution she has made to our centre and the care she has shown all the children and families. She will be very much missed 😢 ❤️

Last night we had the pleasure of welcoming current and future families to our Kindergarten Information Session.

Our wonderful Kindergarten teachers shared insights into our kindergarten program, highlighting the meaningful learning experiences, play-based curriculum and the incredible work they do every day to support children’s growth, confidence and school readiness.

We were also delighted to welcome teachers from Morningside State School, who spoke with families about the transition to Prep and shared valuable information on how parents can support their children as they prepare for this exciting milestone. A huge thank you to the Morningside State School team for partnering with us to support our families.

Kindergarten 2027 enrolments are now open! 🎉

If you’d like to learn more about our Kindergarten program or book a tour of our centre, we’d love to hear from you. Please call us on (07) 3399 3599 and speak with Jo, Maria or Tash, who will be happy to guide you through the enrolment process.

We can’t wait to welcome our future Kindy families!

The research is clear 📚 reading aloud is one of the most powerful things we can do for our children.

When we read with a child, we’re doing far more than sharing a story. We’re building the foundations for language, confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

Decades of research shows that children who are read to regularly:

💛 Build stronger language skills
Hearing rich varied language in books exposes children to far more words than everyday conversation alone. This growing vocabulary helps them understand, communicate and make sense of the world.

💛 Develop early literacy skills long before they learn to read
Through stories, children learn how books work – that print carries meaning, that pages turn left to right, and that stories have a beginning, middle and end. These early understandings make learning to read feel familiar and exciting.

💛 Strengthen phonological awareness
Rhymes, rhythms and playful sounds help children hear the building blocks of language.

💛 Grow their comprehension and thinking skills
Talking together about a story, predicting what might happen, wondering how a character feels, and connecting events to real life helps children develop memory, problem-solving, and higher-order thinking.

💛 Experience connection, comfort and joy
Shared reading fosters calmness, closeness, and moments of joint attention. These warm interactions support a child's sense of security and belonging.

Most importantly, children who experience positive, engaging reading moments from a young age are more likely to develop a genuine love of books - something that matters even more than early literacy skills alone.

Reading is simple, joyful, and sets children up for success in school and life.
