After years of prolonged cardiac compressions on both human casualties and in in manikin training, my clear preference is shown above. Hence my choice of logo.
Why?
Any more than a minute of the interlocked method causes discomfort to the distal knuckles due to force compressing them against the recipient's chest. Even with raised fingers, the fatigue in the forearm becomes uncomfortable and distracts the responder from affective compression metrics.
Not to mention the bruising caused to the casualty (the least of their concerns, I'm aware, but why add to the sternal discomfort/trauma if you are fortunate enough to gain return of spontaneous circulation and they survive?).
