A group of our Wilston Kids Care Educators officially kicked off The Push Up Challenge 2026!
For some of our team members, this is their fourth year taking part in Australia's largest mental health and fitness event. Over the next 24 days, each Educator will complete 3,307 push ups, representing the 3,307 lives lost to su***de in Australia in 2024. Along the way, participants learn daily mental health facts, helping to raise awareness, start important conversations, and reduce stigma around mental health.
The Push Up Challenge has become a powerful way for communities, workplaces and schools to come together in support of better mental health. Since it began, more than 1 million participants have been involved and over $60 million has been raised for mental health services and programs across Australia.
Our team is excited to take on the challenge together, support one another, and push for better mental health.
If you would like to support our educators and this fantastic cause, donations are greatly appreciated. You can donate to our team here:

We can't wait to share our challenge journey with the wider community and appreciate all the encouragement along the way.

π₯π¨ Fire Evacuation Drill Successfully Completed! π¨π₯
At Wilston Kids Care, the safety and wellbeing of children is always our highest priority.
To help children understand what to do in the event of a real emergency, we regularly conduct fire evacuation and lockdown drills throughout the year. These drills are scheduled every 13 weeks and provide valuable opportunities for children and educators to practise emergency procedures in a calm and supportive environment.
We had planned to conduct our latest fire evacuation drill last week, however the wet weather had other ideas! After several attempts and plenty of rain delays, we were finally able to complete our service-wide evacuation drill on Monday, 1 June, the first day of Winter.
Our children are always incredibly curious about these experiences and actively engage in the learning process. We take time to explain why we conduct drills, what the different alarms mean, and how everyone can help keep each other safe.
π We are proud to report that everyone did a fantastic job! Children and educators calmly evacuated to their designated marshalling areas, where rolls were marked and attendance was quickly confirmed. It was wonderful to see how confidently and responsibly the children participated.
These regular drills help build children's confidence, resilience, and understanding of emergency procedures, ensuring that if a real emergency were ever to occur, everyone knows exactly what to do.
Well done to all of our children and educators for their excellent teamwork and commitment to safety! π

πΏ Reconciliation in Action at Wilston Kids Care πΏ
National Reconciliation Week provides an important opportunity for us to reflect, learn, and strengthen our commitment to reconciliation every day.
At Wilston Kids Care, our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) guides us in creating meaningful opportunities for children, educators, families, and our community to learn about and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and contributions.
A special thank you goes to Claire, our RAP Officer, and our dedicated RAP Committee, who continue to lead and document our reconciliation journey. Their passion and commitment help ensure that reconciliation remains visible, purposeful, and embedded throughout our service.
We are especially proud to be amplifying the voices of our Student Advisory Committee (SAC). Our students have shared valuable ideas and perspectives that are helping shape what reconciliation looks like at Wilston Kids Care. By listening to and acting on their suggestions, we are empowering young people to become active leaders in building a more inclusive and respectful future.
Throughout National Reconciliation Week and beyond, children have been engaging in a range of meaningful experiences, including:
β¨ Exploring stories and learning experiences that celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
β¨ Creating artwork inspired by connection to Country and culture.
β¨ Participating in discussions about respect, fairness, and inclusion.
β¨ Engaging with learning provocations that encourage curiosity and understanding.
β¨ Sharing daily conversations about reconciliation and the importance of walking together.
At Wilston Kids Care, we believe reconciliation is everyone's responsibility. Through shared learning, open conversations, and genuine partnerships, we are building a culture of respect, understanding, and connection.
Together, we continue our reconciliation journey with purpose, integrity, and a commitment to ensuring every voice is heard.

π£ Your Feedback Helps Shape Our Programs! π
At Wilston Kids Care, we believe the best educational programs are created in partnership with our children and families.
Whether it's our Term Time Program or our exciting Vacation Care Program, we are always looking for ideas, suggestions, and feedback to help us create engaging experiences that reflect the interests, strengths, and needs of our children.
π‘ Have an idea?
π Want to suggest an activity, club, excursion, incursion, or special event?
π Have feedback about something your child has enjoyed?
Simply complete a feedback form and place it in our Educational Program Feedback Box, conveniently located in the sign-in and sign-out area near our Educational Program Wall.
So, what do we do with your feedback?
Your suggestions help us:
β¨ Plan activities that reflect children's interests and family input.
β¨ Develop meaningful learning experiences.
β¨ Improve our programs and service delivery.
β¨ Create opportunities that support children's wellbeing, development, and engagement.
β¨ Ensure our programs remain responsive to our community.
Most importantly, we actively encourage children to use their voices too! π€
Our educators regularly seek children's ideas, opinions, and feedback about what they would like to see included in our programs. Whether it's a new club, a creative experience, a sports activity, a STEM project, or a special Vacation Care adventure, children's voices play an important role in our planning process.
Together, children, families, and educators create a program that is engaging, meaningful, and uniquely Wilston Kids Care.
Thank you for partnering with us and helping shape the experiences we offer each day. π

𧑠Child Safety is Everyoneβs Responsibility at Wilston Kids Care
At Wilston Kids Care, child safety is more than a policy, it is embedded in our daily practice, our culture, and every interaction we have with children.
We believe every child has the right to feel safe, respected, valued, and included. Our educators work intentionally each day to build trusting relationships with children, creating an environment where they feel comfortable expressing themselves, sharing their ideas, and seeking support when needed.
Our commitment to child safety is reflected through:
β¨ Creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where every child feels a sense of belonging.
β¨ Building strong, respectful relationships that support children's emotional wellbeing and development.
β¨ Listening to children's voices and encouraging them to participate in decisions that affect their experiences.
β¨ Supporting children to develop confidence, resilience, independence, and self-advocacy skills.
β¨ Maintaining high standards of supervision, risk management, and safeguarding practices.
β¨ Ensuring all educators understand their responsibilities as mandatory reporters and advocates for children's wellbeing.
β¨ Working in partnership with families to support positive outcomes for every child.
We know that positive interactions play a critical role in shaping children's confidence, self-esteem, and sense of security. Through our play-based programs, caring relationships, and child-centred approach, we intentionally create opportunities for children to develop the social and emotional skills they need to thrive both now and into the future.
Child safety is everyone's responsibility, and at Wilston Kids Care, we are proud to be part of Queensland's commitment to ensuring all children experience safe, nurturing, and positive environments where they can learn, grow, and flourish.
Together, we create a community where every child is safe, supported, and empowered.
