👑 King’s Birthday Public Holiday

A friendly reminder to our Gardenia families that all Gardenia Early Learning centres will be closed tomorrow, Monday 5th October, for the King’s Birthday public holiday.
We hope all of our children and families enjoy the long weekend and some special time together. 💚

✂️🌈 Our Cutting Basket! 🌈✂️

Our children have been busy little snippers, so we decided to create our very own Cutting Basket! 🧺✨ Filled with colourful paper and wool, it has become a wonderful invitation to practise, explore and keep trying.

As children cut, snip and manipulate different materials, they are strengthening the small muscles in their hands and fingers and developing the hand strength, coordination and control needed for future writing. ✍️💪

And the secret to mastering a new skill? Repetition! 🔄✨ Each time children return to cutting, they build confidence, refine their scissor control and discover that “I can do it!”

What looks like simple snipping is actually important early learning — supporting fine motor development, hand-eye coordination, concentration, persistence and pre-writing skills. 🌱

Sometimes learning happens one little snip at a time! 💕✂️

✨💧 A Little Bit of Water Magic! 💧✨

Who knew that water, a few shiny balls and some little hands could create so much magic? 🪄✨

Our children became busy explorers as they scooped, poured, splashed and moved the shimmering water, watching how it flowed around the shiny balls and changed with every little movement. 🌊⚪️

Water is such a wonderful natural material for children to investigate. Through playful exploration, children are discovering cause and effect, movement, volume, coordination and early scientific thinking — all while simply having fun!

There were curious hands, sparkling discoveries and plenty of “ooh!” moments as the children wondered what might happen next. 💦✨

Sometimes the simplest things create the most magical learning. 🌿💧 A little water, a little wonder and lots of opportunities to discover! 💕

🌿✨ Clay, Wonder & Little Discoveries ✨🌿

Today our children slowed down, got their hands messy and discovered just how much wonder can be found in a simple piece of clay. 🤎

Rolling, poking, twisting, pressing and hammering transformed the clay into a canvas of marks, textures and stories. Each little creation became an opportunity to wonder, experiment and give meaning to what they discovered.

The hammer was a particular favourite! 🔨💦 Tiny splashes of wet clay flew across the boards, bringing plenty of excitement (and a few giggles!) while also creating opportunities to learn about being mindful of the friends creating alongside us.

With gentle prompts like, “I wonder what would happen if…?” and “What if we tried…?”, educators encouraged the children to test their own ideas, embrace curiosity and discover through doing.

There is something wonderfully magical about learning with natural materials. 🌱 Clay invites children to touch, explore, imagine and create — turning simple moments into rich experiences of wonder, creativity, problem-solving and discovery.

And by the end… our clay boards had become little masterpieces, proudly shared, compared and celebrated. 🎨🤎

🌏✨ Exploring Our World Through Culture and Connection! ✨🌏
Our Diverse and Multicultural Class has been learning about cultures, traditions, music, stories and foods from around the world.
We shared Ukrainian cookies, sang Māori songs, explored Pacific Island tapa patterns, made Lolo Buns and Honey Joys, and baked damper while learning about Indigenous Australian culture.
Through these experiences, children are learning, sharing and celebrating what makes each culture special.
Most importantly, we are building a warm community where every child and family feels valued and connected. ❤️🌏

🐝🌿 Learning Through Nature 🌿🐝

We were delighted to welcome Amber, a teacher from Teralba Bees, for a very special bee discovery session! 🐝

Amber shared so many fascinating insights about our little buzzing friends. The children had the opportunity to look closely at bees, discover what bee eggs look like, and learn more about the incredible life cycle of these important pollinators.

And the sweetest part… we got to taste delicious honey from our very own sugar bag bees! 🍯💛

Experiences like these bring learning to life, allowing children to connect with nature through curiosity, sensory exploration and hands-on discovery. 🌱✨ What better classroom than the natural world around us?

🌿🪶 Welcoming Kambarang — A Season of New Life 🌼✨
As October approaches, we begin moving into Kambarang, a beautiful season in the Noongar seasonal calendar — a time of warmth, vibrant colour, wildflowers, seeds, new growth and the arrival of new life. 🌼🌿
Recently, some of our children noticed birds nesting nearby, sparking curiosity and wonder about the little signs of life happening all around us. 🪶🥚
Inspired by their observations, we have intentionally refreshed one of our Pause Points to reflect this special time of year.
Our little Neighbourhood Nest invites children to pause, explore, wonder and connect with Country — noticing feathers, textures, colours, nests and the gentle beauty of the natural world. 🌿
We love creating intentional spaces where children can slow down, be curious and enjoy a quiet moment of connection. Sometimes the most meaningful learning happens when we simply pause, look closely and listen to what Country is showing us. 💚
As we welcome Kambarang, we celebrate new life, growth, colour, birds, blossoms and the changing rhythms of Country. 🌼🪶✨
